VERY SLOW SERVICE !! Took 2 hrs to get food , chef was very rude & obnoxious definitely doesn’t enjoy his job ! Don’t recommend
The food was okay, but definitely overpriced for what you get. The service was disappointing—the staff didn’t seem very welcoming, and the overall atmosphere felt unfriendly. It’s a shame because the food is the only good part of the experience, but even that doesn’t quite make up for the poor service and high prices. I hope the customer experience improves in the future.
My parents used to bring me here as a kid, now my husband and I bring our 3 kiddos! We absolutely love Asahi, there is no other hibachi that compares. Our picky eaters devour their dinner when we come here, and ask to come often.
The worst Japanese food ever! So bland. The noodles was spaghetti noodles it was hilarious! The floor was carpeted but was so sticky. Ewww!
I hesitate to even leave this review because part of me wants to keep Asahi a secret. It’s one of those rare spots you stumble into and instantly hope no one else finds out about because you always want to get a table and not wait.
Asahi feels like stepping into a time capsule in the best possible way. It brings me right back to the 90s sushi spots I grew up with in the greater DC area of Virginia. From the menu layout to the decor, it has that old-school charm that’s almost impossible to find anymore. I almost couldn’t believe what I was seeing.I truly thought this layout and presentation had gone the way of the dinosaur.
These days, there’s a sea of AYCE sushi joints popping up everywhere. Gimmicky. Highly derivative menus. Most of them completely miss the mark and end up ruining what I grew up being taught was an art form. That’s what makes Asahi so special. Up front, they’ve got the hibachi setup for the people of the land, the common clay. You know… BUT head to the back and you’ll find the real magic. A deep, thoughtful sushi menu with rich variety, beautiful presentation, and yes, real wasabi if you ask for it.
The wait staff actually sticks around and remembers you, which says everything about the heart behind the place. I’m still blown away that this kind of spot exists in Greensboro. They’ve been here for decades and it shows. It’s the real deal, and I couldn’t be more hyped to have found it.
Be warned, and make no mistake, it ain’t cheap. But what truly good sushi is?
First time trying this place. Food was overcooked. Portion size was on the smaller side. Would have expected more with the prices. Chef was nice.

First visit, and it was okay.
Server was polite and great.
Hibachi tasted good, and drinks were nice.
Portions are a bit small compared to other places, was hoping for an equal amount considering the higher price value.
Chef was fun, but he did confuse some of our orders.

Favorite sushi place in Greensboro. Been going for over twenty years. It's a lil pricey but the quality of the food is worth it.

Dated setting and furniture. The staff was nice and friendly. Different variety vs other Japanese steakhouses in town. Probably won't return

"Had a great meal at a Asahi Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi restaurant. The filet and shrimp were
tender and flavorful, the California roll was fresh, and the noodles and fried rice were spot on. The sake was excellent. I had a great to go box for later that night.
