Let me first preface this review by saying that I am a California transplant to the East Coast, and I can be fairly picky about my Mexican/Latino food. We ordered take-out from here, as suggested by some local friends. One of our friends said that one of his Spanish-speaking colleagues often order from here, which definitely had us curious. (He also said that the same colleague also frequents Taco Bell, which made us curious about his colleague, but I digress). We arrived here, and it seemed that less than 2% of all of the people here (both employees and patrons) spoke English natively. We ordered our dishes with his English, and the broken Spanish that I managed through my high school classes from long ago. This food is legit!!! At my friend's recommendation, I ordered sopas, which were his preferred dish...his was steak, and mine was Al Pastor (the one who took my order seemed impressed that I knew what Al Pastor meant)! As always, my friend loved his steak sopas. My only complaint was that I wasn't quite prepared for how heavy the fried dough portion was, but the al pastor and other toppings were excellent! My wife ordered the Grilled Chicken (Pollo a la Plancha) Platillo, which she thoroughly enjoyed. My friend's wife also very much enjoyed her Chicken Burrito. Our collective children each had a plain cheese burrito, and rice and beans. Let me amend that, the evening that we came, the restaurant said that they were out of beans. We also ordered a medium container of rice, and the cashier forgot to package that in our final order. Consequently, we bought a can of pinto refried beans from the market portion of the store, and our children ate rice that came from each of our orders and the heated refried beans. They LOVED the improvised rice beans, and...ate enough of their quesadillas.Speaking of the beans, we were mildly disappointed that they were out of a couple other menu items, most notably the Agua Fresca...I would have hoped that they had Tamarinda. All and all, we absolutely loved our meal, and hopefully next time we return to Greensboro, we will be trying more of this restaurant's menu!

DELICIOUS!!!!! I'm visiting from out of town and it was seriously the best food I had! I got the torta de asada with everything on it. WOW it was so good I forgot to take a picture of it! Haha. We got tres leches cake from their panadería as dessert and it was amazing. We also got some pan dulce for the road. I wish I had one near my house I'd come all the time haha !! The service was quick and they were very nice. If you are in Greensboro El Mercadito is a must visit!

I decided to stop into Carniceria El Mercadito for their tortillas and tamales, at the suggestion of several friends. I will say, the tortillas are fresh and soft. You absolutely cannot beat a homemade fresh tortilla!! They have a variety of tamales to choose from, I choose a spicy chicken.. OMG so good!! They have many other offerings in this market, but if tamales are on your list you must get there early before the crowd! Highly recommend this Market!

This market is awesome. I don't know why it's taken me so long to discover this. The deli is great. Pre- seasoned fajita meat and veggies. Several cuts of steak. Homemade baked items!! At the counter- they have a cooler full of hot homemade tortillas!!! Corn or flour. Get them!!! A nice man recommended the corn tortillas with Playero Crema Salvadora. I took his word- and he was not wrong!! So delicious.

I’m giving five star for the people who work there and make this place special. Very hard-working people and even though I don’t speak Spanish, they try their level best to accommodate my orders.

I placed my order while at work left to go pick it up. After waiting in line to pay, I always check my order as I doubt my pronunciation on some menu items. This time my order was incorrect like most times I visit. My order is always a milanesa torta. It's usually no big deal for them to fix one order but this time I waited 20 more minutes through my whole work break to receive a sandwich with the same grilled chicken pieces. I told them while ordering, while fixing the order and then while requesting a refund that I wanted fried chicken/milanesa,they finally told me after 40 minutes and driving they don't have fried/breaded chicken cutlet there. However on every other visit, they gave me fried chicken cutlet, even if it took having to fix the initial mistake they made. I'm genuinely confused because the Milanesa torta is always fried, milanesa means for it to be fried thin meat. I really loved this restaurant and supporting authentic small businesses but the constant challenges getting my order right that led to my 30 minute break turning into an hour keeping me from taking care of patients made it too much today. I received a refund after having to ask directly for it and no apologies.

A legit place to get authentic Mexican cuisine in Greensboro. Customer service can be lacking at times, but the food makes up for it. The pan dulce is on point - it's the kind that leaves grease on the paper. Tortes, burritos, they got it all. I've had better rotisserie chicken elsewhere, so spend your hard- earned Simoleons on the other great stuff.

This is the original authentic Mexican restaurant in town. Still very good but La Casita Mexican is better. I do like how they give you an avocado slice with your taco here. Scratch made tortillas are very good. But my Al pastor taco just did not have the flavor that La Casita had. The taco was cold but the filling was warm. The shrimp taco was ok. No seasoning on the shrimp. They are stingy with the sauce now. They used to have big bottles of red and green salsa. Now you get a tablespoon and have to pay extra for more. Still a good bargain but I like La Casita better for the food and the super-friendly employees.

My favorite hidden gem and Carniceria in Greensboro. If you go in the morning/ before lunch you will find fresh tortillas, tamales, bread, and chicken asado with rice and beans. They also have a small restaurant inside with limited seating. The food is great and well priced. Definitely one of the better authentic Mexican restaurants in town.

Just had our first take out experience and I was blown away. After spending a few years in Brooklyn we have been on the search for a burrito that comes close to our favorite Hispanic bodega. This places comes pretty close! We ordered asada burritos but can't wait to try the rest of the menu. The only thing to be aware of is knowing Spanish is a plus. Luckily my husband knew enough to order but just a heads up.

Delicious! Authentic- like no English, actual authentic food in a market. Tacos were much better than any I've had at sit down Mexican restaurants in the area. The hot sauce was spicy and flavorful. Everything was very fresh, including the cojita cheese. Shopped a little in the market and picked up pastries while waiting for my order. I've only tried one of the pastries (pictured) and it was amazing ! It was more delicate than it looked and had exceptional texture and flavors. They have a large variety or muffins, pastries, breads and cakes. I will definitely be trying more menu items.

It's authentic Mexican food what more do you expect?! They always serve the food hot and fresh. This one of my little gems when I'm on a quick taco or Gordita kick!

Great variety of Mexican pan dulce and authentic fresh food. The cold 3 tres leche and Chocoflan looked so delicious but unfortunately it tasted like cleaning products. Hopefully just a bad batch
