Visited today for the first time. This is a high traffic area on W friendly & Pembroke.. You place your order, pay, wait for your name to be called and then go get your food.. I got a veggie plate that included 4 sides with water with lemon. They didn’t have glasses of water instead I received a bottle of Aquafina. This plate was priced at $10 after tax it was $13. Collards, yams, fried okra and green beans. The collards, yams, and fried okra were great. The green beans were disgusting!! They tasted so sweet! Like who puts sugar in green beans?? . The portion sizes were very small. I let the staff know I didn’t like the green beans and they replaced it with yams. I appreciated that for sure. Also my friend ordered shrimp and she was expecting regular shrimp and she received butterfly shrimp which she didn’t like. She also said the cake was nasty.Will not return.Vegetarian options: No meat in the veggie dishes.

There no real care or interaction besides the register attendee taking money n orders . Food used to be so good but not Nomore it’s seems preheated when u get it at noon and if you want your fish crispy your gonna wait 30 mins and still don’t get your food. I have supported cause i love my black race doing it but when u start yo lack n not show consistency it’s time to move on after so many chances

If I could give the food 10 stars I would. Clearly Fresh from scratch made comfort food. We went back for seconds of the mac & cheese. I was very impressed, and it's very hard for a restaurant to do that for me.

I have had them in the past and the food was good. My son and I went there last night and the food was not good. I asked for yams and got mashed sweet potatoes. The vegetable portions were very small compared to before. The young tried to tell me I had yams and those were standard portions sizes. The cabbage had no seasoning and my son's Mac cheese was just cheese and macaroni. No seasoning. O must say the fish was very good.

My first ever experience here was not good due to horrible customer service, I can’t stress enough how much bad customer service puts a bad taste in my mouth no matter how good the food might be at a restaurant. My food was pretty cold not steaming hot like I was expecting so that was another disappointment on top of the customer service. Being it was my first time going I was standing at the front counter waiting to be acknowledge and the lady is just looking me in the face not even speaking to me because she was on her Bluetooth having a personal call and didn’t speak to me until she wrapped up her conversation her whole demeanor was very dry and rude, once my food was done I went to the counter again to retrieve my meal the young lady says “can I help you” in a rude tone then hands off my meal and says “what lemonade you want?” In again A very dry unwelcoming tone. I would say overall I won’t be back the food was pretty good but not hot at all which was very underwhelming and the customer service was not welcoming like I was hoping very disappointing for a first time visit.

I order the food and it felt like it took forever to receive my food the cake wasn’t all that all i got the strawberry cake think it had real strawberry topping but it was nothing but strawberry flavored syrup and the lemonade isn’t made with lemons sugar and water the strawberry lemonade was made with daiquiri mix

My daughters school catered lunch from Ben's Boyz, so she wanted to stop by after church for lunch. So glad we did. The service was great. Very welcoming, polite. No rushing us through our order. We had the whiting with collard greens and Mac and cheese, along with the fish sandwich, again Mac and cheese and collard greens, and my daughter had the Broasted chicken. I got a side order of Broasted wings. Everything was delicious. The portion size was perfect. I ate 2 of the wings and my daughter stole my leftovers! We loved everything so much, we got one full meal, and 3 sides to go, along with desserts. Banana pudding, pecan cake, and yellow cake with chocolate icing. The restaurant was beautiful. There are paintings and pictures from local artists for sale along with a small store in the front. There is also a handwashing sink for washing up without having to enter the restrooms. For those that worry about parking(me!) there is plenty of parking in front and across the steer from the restaurant. I didn't get any photos because I was too busy eating, but I truly recommend Ben's Boyz. We are from the suburbs of NY, and there is nothing like this up here. Can't wait to visit again so we can enjoy the ambiance, service and most of all, the food.

Love, love, love. Food is seasoned well. Service was amazing. Kool aid was sweet and desert was tasty. And I grabbed some body oil a coloring book and some prints on the way out the door.
