I come here a lot and I must say that I quite like it. The coffees and desserts are always top notch and the service is always solid. My only complaint is around the setup of the building. I get the vibe they are going for but the seating arrangements aren't always the greatest and sometimes force you into a group you don't want to be in. Other than that, I have no complaints and quite like coming here.

Common Grounds is a cool, divey place where you can relax and play some games. The decorum is definitely on the more rustic/vintage side. They have some retro coin slot arcade games (coins not included), a pool table, an old piano, and a chess board. There’s many things you can do here to unwind!
There’s also very comfortable couch seating where you can sit, relax and study/work. Along with their coffee selections, they also have a small beer selection as well.
Sometimes people like to smoke outside and that smell can travel inside a little.

The owners need to fix the AC. Having the workers there under those conditions is inhumane. People don’t want to be there when it is so hot out. Everything else is fine, but the owners need to step up and do something about the awful working conditions.

We passed someone smoking outside when we went in to order. We waited at the counter and the same person came in, took our order and made our drinks without washing hands. We had already paid for the drinks or we would have declined service. Employees need to wash hands after smoking and before preparing food.

My friends & I actually became frequent regulars here lately, but I have decided that its time to find another shop. I got the Iced Brad Pitt , which has peanut butter & hazelnut. The peanut butter was very obviously just plopped into the cup with the coffee, not being mixed in at all. The iced coffee was almost as thick as a milkshake, which I immediately could not stomach, it was chunky and gross. Even after trying to mix it myself, it was still gross and too thick to enjoy. Ive gotten this drink hot and iced and it has never disappointed this bad, the peanut butter has never been visible in the cup nor thick enough for me to notice. The main reason I am writing this review is not because of the coffee, but because of the way I was ignored about fixing the issue after the fact. I just wanted a replacement for my wasted money but that ask was ignored. $7 down the drain. Their answering machine says send a message to them, but it will not likely be answered (i was left on read). Just unprofessional to not respond to a concern about your business, especially when it is very clear that they saw the complaint, and did not make an effort to reach back out about it.

If you are looking for a coffee shop, this is it. My daughter found it while attending UNCG and turned my whole family on to it. Every time we are in town, we always visit. Or even passing through Greensboro, I am required to stop. Skip the national chain and give this great locally owned shop a try. You will not be disappointed.
