I recently visited Elizabeth Italian Restaurant and was disappointed with the experience. I ordered the penne alla vodka with chicken and a medium chicken and pepperoni pizza, subbing the marinara for Alfredo sauce. Unfortunately, the quality fell far short of expectations.
The pasta had raw edges, like it wasn’t fully cooked, and the chicken had an off-putting smell and flavor—undercooked or poorly handled, possibly even cooked while still frozen. The bread was bland and basic, offering no balance to the rest of the meal.
I don’t usually leave reviews, but having lived in New York and New Jersey, I hold Italian food to a high standard. That said, I’ve still found great, affordable Italian spots in Fayetteville and Raleigh, so I know it’s possible in North Carolina. This location in Greensboro, however, doesn’t compare—especially considering the $5 upcharges for Alfredo sauce and chicken. I’m willing to pay more for quality, but in this case, I ended up feeling nauseous after eating, even though I was genuinely hungry going in.
Overall, this was not up to par. I wouldn’t recommend it, and I won’t be returning.

I'm guilty of sticking with what I know is great here, so I may never find out if the rest of their menu is equally awesome. But I can vouch for their mushroom & garlic pizza. Oh how I wish other places knew how to make garlic a pizza topping! And their salads are always fresh and crisp.
