About Guisados Homestyle Grill

Guisados Homestyle Grill is a compact, very clean restaurant that uses ceramic plates and metal silverware instead of disposable containers and plastic cutlery. The staff are kind, friendly, caring and passionate about customer satisfaction. They serve supremely fresh food, but many dishes are severely lacking in flavor; most items taste utterly bland, like hospital food bland. A salsa or salt can be added, but the inside of the dish remains flavorless. Protein portions are small; some dinner plates cost $18‑19 and contain only 3‑4 tablespoons of meat. Despite these shortcomings the service is top‑notch and the environment welcoming. The owner often comes out from the kitchen to greet guests and offers homemade mole. Menudos and chilaquiles are outstanding, full of flavor, and served with generous sides of salsa, cilantro, lime and onions. The #2 combo with lamb, beef, rice and beans is well‑seasoned, cooked perfectly and very tasty, and empanadas are amazing. Homemade lemonade is refreshing, not overly sweet, with vanilla. Family‑friendly, clean and with great service, Guisados shows promise for the future if the chef improves flavor and protein balance. The restaurant earns four stars for service, but the food could deserve two to three stars.
