Drinks and food were great.

Let me tell you about A House Divided in Greensboro, North Carolina, a spot that should honestly be called A House of Flavor and Good Decisions. We came to celebrate my niece’s college graduation (go niece!), and this place ended up graduating with honors in the School of Brunch Excellence.

First, let’s talk ambiance. It’s cozy but not cramped, giving just the right amount of “we’re out” without the chaos of being out-out. The DJ was clearly playing a love letter to Generation X, spinning everything from throwback jams to those grooves that make you hum, “They don’t make music like this anymore.” The music was a tad loud, but that could be me aging into a phase where I say things like “tad loud.” Still, the vibe was right.

Because our crew was deep, they rolled out a brunch buffet. While it was solid (I went back twice for research), there were dishes coming out to other tables that made me feel like I was window shopping while already wearing shoes. One plate in particular stopped time: crispy, golden brown chicken wings stacked like royalty, flanked by creamy mac and cheese and collard greens that looked like they came straight out of Grandma’s spiritual archive.

I had to investigate. So I made a detour from my buffet bounty and ordered the wings. Lemon pepper. Now listen, I used to judge lemon pepper wings. I thought they were all hype, like crocs or NFTs. But these were fried hard just how I like them, with a crispy crunch that echoed across generations. The lemon and garlic ratio was blessed by the ancestors. Tasty? Yes. Life-changing? No.

Because the collard greens stole the show. No, really. These greens deserve their own reality series. Perfectly cut, clearly cleaned by someone who cares, and seasoned like a whisper from the ancestors. Not salty. Not spicy. Just divine. These greens were so good, I briefly considered writing them into my will.

Bonus points? The restaurant is Black-owned by a proud North Carolina A&T alum, who just happens to be my brother-in-law’s college classmate. That Aggie pride is strong, and you can feel the love and legacy in every bite.

Would I fly back to North Carolina just for those collard greens? Don’t test me. I keep my Delta app open.

If you find yourself in Greensboro and you don’t stop by A House Divided, I fear your soul may remain incomplete. Whether for a celebration or just a craving, this place deserves your time, and your taste buds will thank you.

Some co-workers mentioned this place. Wanted some Wings for my dinner while at work. Called in the order for pick-up. Arrived to pick up order and had a little bit of a wait. No big deal. This was on a Friday at around 730 PM. Not too busy at that time. As I parked and entered a patron came out of the building seemly irritated They were a bit loud and using profanity while talking to the parking/security person. I got my order a little bothered about their pay process. I had to basically do it myself with a small device I was handed. I ordered the Fried Wings with a side of fries and collard greens. The wings had a nice flavor a bit over cooked and greasy though. The collards were seasoned well-and tasted great. Overall a good experience.

This was my first time here, from the food the service, and the DJ everything was great. If you are looking for a great time I recommend this place.

Food was good. Mac and cheese and greens excellent. Chicken was seasoned good. May be a little salty but that depends on preference

I really wanted to enjoy my first visit to House Divided, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. When we arrived, there was no host or signage to let us know if we should seat ourselves. All the available tables were dirty, which made it hard to find a place to sit.

Service was very slow — we had to ask for napkins and silverware, which turned out to be plastic utensils. My drink came with ice after I asked for no ice, and when I requested water, it arrived with a hair in the cup.

I ordered the teriyaki salmon with green beans and a side salad. The salmon was delicious, but the green beans were cold and tasted off, and the side salad was small and priced differently than the online menu.

The atmosphere was also uncomfortable — someone was loudly FaceTiming at the bar, and a staff member was visiting friends at a table, having their hair played with, which felt unsanitary.

I might consider ordering takeout in the future, but I wouldn’t dine in again during the day based on this experience.

Something that would’ve improve the space itself are booth options to give more of a lounge feel.

I have been going to house divided for years the food is always great but more recently the lady that works the bar i believe she is part owner, has provided terrible service this is the second time that has happened. Her attitude is terrible! She should not be in the front around customers with a nasty attitude like that. Will not be coming back until she is gone

Vibes and staff were great. There was a DJ on Wednesday night which was also awesome. The entrees were pretty good as well. I got the fried whiting and my fiance got the fried wings (breaded). The sides were very good as well, Mac and cheese, cabbage, greens and yams.
We didn't much care for the buffalo chicken dip (not enough chicken and we probably should have requested tortilla chips instead of pita bread).
All of the food was HOT and that was great.

Horrible food all around! The fried chicken was fried in old grease and salty. The Mac and Cheese tasted like Kraft, noodles were Al dente. The collard greens were too vinegary. The plate went straight in the trash.

Had a bad experience here yesterday when picking up my food from my online order. No one acknowledged me when I first came in. When I stopped someone to ask about my order they asked if I was DoorDash. I explained no, I placed an online order and they walked off and said..not my problem. This happened 2x before someone took the time to look my info up. They proceed to ask me AM I sure I placed my order with them..Um..the charge on my card says I did. They finally found my order and gave me my food. No apologies. No acknowledgement of an error on their part. I'm so disappointed with their customer service. If you don't have the bandwidth to take online orders during the superbowl than don't do it. Poor service is the downfall for any business.

I ordered salmon bites, Mac n cheese, and a French 75 cocktail. The food was pretty good and the drink was nice and strong like you want them to be. $15 for a small salmon bites appetizer is a bit steep for the what you get. The Mac n cheese and the salmon were tasty. The restaurant is quaint with nice interior, it’s actually a house turned restaurant. Service was pretty good and attentive. I came on a night just after the snow so there was just a small party apart from myself, so it was a relax home vibe. The only thing I didn’t care for was plastic silverware instead of real silverware.
