The pulled pork plate was good. The pork was a little dry, but not bad. I enjoyed the hushpuppies. The collard greens were overcooked. I personally was not a big fan of the barbecue sauce selection. I am used to sauces that are thicker and cling to the meat.

I have been eating Stamey’s since I was 4 years old, now 71. I grew up in Greensboro and it was always a treat to go to Stamey’s drive in then and order our BBQ and have it brought out to the car. I live in Surfside Beach SC now and always try to get by there when I am in town. Now you can order it all on line except that awesome Cole slaw. It is the best BBQ anywhere.
We stopped here for lunch on the way from Charlotte to Asheville. The food was very good and the service was excellent, no wait and our waitress was very friendly and cheerful. I got a chopped pork sandwich and hush puppies and the price was very fair. I am not from the area but would definitely go back if I had the opportunity!

I worked at Stameys as a teen, so I am prejudiced. But the quality of the food seems to be going downhill. My hot dog roll was hard as a brick. The cooks have got to be the quality control person to make sure they don't serve inferior products. The waitress did take it back and replace it. This is the third visit where I have had to send it back. I don’t eat there as much as I used to .
It's a nice place. I'm just not a fan of vinegar based bbq. But the service was good. Very nice people and I liked all the older pictures of how the restaurant came to be.

I got the pulled pork sandwich with Cole slaw. The pork was just BLAND!! It wasn't seasoned at all. I added sauce, salt and pepper and could not get that taste that I'm used to coming from the DMV area. Cole slaw was MUSHY!! YUCK!!! OVERRATED restaurant.
