When the restaurant is having a bad day, you're going to have a bad day. I did my best to eat lunch here today. I like the Taco Bell chain because it's super easy to go meatless, animal product-less, at Taco Bell. Crunchy tacos with black beans, fresco style is good. Normally, this particular location is OK. Today I just had a gut feeling that I needed to find someplace else to go. When I walked in the place was reasonably busy, not bad. Half of the counter was covered in packets of hot and mild sauce. A guy was complaining that the drink machine was out of ice and the soda was coming out hot (it was). No one was manning the cash register. I really should have come back another day, my alarms were going off, I was in a bit of a time crunch, etc.. I figured I could deal with the warm soda. It was sure enough warm with no ice. I ordered the number 7, three tacos and a drink. I ordered them, black beans, fresco style. No black beans (this isn't the first time). I was in a hurry so I just got them with refried beans. It was edible but.. As I was eating it occurred to me that I basically paid a buck forty a piece for a dollar spicy tostada from the dollar menu. And the tostada taste better. So, that's an extra buck twenty for a lesser meal. I have been a regular, like once a week, customer at this store for 3.5 years. Most of the time it's OK, not awesome but, OK.. Sometimes it smells really bad, like a construction related issue where the sewer line is exposed. I don't think it has anything to do with anything the employees have any control over. The employees are the best part. They are always pleasant in spite of the fact that they seem to fight an uphill battle most days. Then, I'm not really enjoying the very bland refried bean, lettuce and pico taco and find that it has a good sized piece of plastic in it. At first I thought it was a tough piece of lettuce. Then I grossed out. I had just enough time to get back to work so, I threw out my trash and returned to work. I didn't have time to have a conversation. I'm just real frustrated about today. Like I said, when the restaurant is having a bad day, you're going to have a bad day.
