Yokai came highly recommended by a colleague at work, and after much research, I hosted a small get together here for my wife's birthday and had about 12 people in attendance, with 4 kids and 8 adults. I reached out to them in advance and they were super communicative down to every detail. We had a great time and the manager even brought out a complimentary small dessert - a super nice touch on a great evening.

Not only did the staff do a great job waiting on the adults (they kept the tapas and beverages flowing!), but also kept a close eye on kids' food and drinks as well - which allowed the adults to have a great time too! Would do it again - the only negative was the torrential downpour meant we couldn't be on the outside patio, but we all rolled with it, they handled it great and it worked out just fine.

Thank you again for a great evening!

I had dinner with an old friend who was in town. Making a reservation online was easy, and we got seated right away. Our server was amazing! He offered some great menu suggestions and was really personable. He checked in frequently but also gave us time and space to catch up without feeling rushed. The cocktails and food were delicious as always! I've dined at Yokai and gotten takeout several times, and I'm always impressed with absolutely everything. After living 20+ years in the Durham / Chapel Hill area, I'm really grateful to have such a great restaurant here in GSO. I'll be back soon.

This wasn’t my first visit, which is why I made the recommendation to come here. We had a large party of 10 and due to a prior event going over we missed our reservation at 9:45. We got there at 1015pm. Not only did they still seat us, the kitchen closed at 10:30, but they still took our orders. The food was AMAZING. The service was stellar. Post-Covid service is usually pretty terrible at most restaurants. But not at Yokai. I appreciate you all for accommodating us.

I wasn't a fan of the noodle dishes but the sake was outta this world! They have a great crab dip. There aren't as many food selections as there are drinks selections. Very small on the inside but there is outside seating that is very nice.

We have been coming here since Yokai opened and have always received excellent service. The food and cocktails are well thought out and delicious. Our kids, who are typically somewhat picky eaters, stuff themselves silly each visit. The way we're treated by the staff alone makes this a go-to for our date nights.

Outstanding shoyu chicken ramen. Some of the best I've ever had. Incredibly deep, rich broth.

Went for the first time yesterday and the food was amazing! I had the Shoyu Ramen with Chicken Katsu! Very flavorful. The sweet chicken wings were great as well! I opted for a lychee martini mocktail that was excellent. The music was great and the place was overall very clean. Nice ambiance! Will definitely be returning.

There are fusion places that are fusion because they don't want to cook anything well. This place is one of them.

There's all kinds of ideas gone wrong here, like a deconstructed crab rangoon they decided to turn into a sweet fondue with wonton instead of bread.

It's the worst cooked pork I've had in my life. How do you get it so wrong?

Maybe it was the waitress. We were chasing her all night. I ordered a second drink at the start of my first and was waiting fifteen minutes for that second drink. Maybe she left our food under the lamps. We had to ask her about our food and the bartender for the drinks.

This place fools you with a good concept, but God the food is BAD.

The drinks are good.

Wow, the food and Sake here is SO GOOD! We sat outside on the terrace and it was perfect! Our waiter was great and made some awesome recommendations, especially for someone who's never had Sake before! We will definitely be back again!

Food is terrible, very salty.
I let them know about the food they did nothing about it, I paid $30 for something I didn't eat
Do yourself a favor and choose another place to eat.

Fantastic Izakaya food & the service was spectacular! The friendly atmosphere, staff and beautiful art all over the walls make coming here so relaxing. The daily specials have become favorites of mine every time we go =]

Great meal, Great drinks. Fantastic experience talking to the knowledgeable bartender, he shared his passion for saki, gave us a great flight and talked through them all. Highly recommend!
