Excellent coffee! Wife and I ordered online after trying many other coffee roasters for whole bean online purchases. What we were seeking was nothing fancy, just a fresh-roasted excellent quality coffee and that is what we received! I am sure you can order fancier stuff too, but we really enjoyed all three of the beans we ordered: the House Blend, Third Street Blend and Bali Blue Moon.
We will definitely be placing orders again!

Blackbeard Coffee Roasters has a warm, comfortable atmosphere that makes it easy to relax. It’s the perfect spot to support a small business while enjoying great conversation—the music is at just the right volume. On top of that, the drinks are absolutely excellent.

Every time I come to Blackbeard, I am always greeted by staff as soon as I walk in the door. The atmosphere of the place has a very calm demeanor, which makes it perfect to get schoolwork done or even to read. The Iced Mocha is the way to go. I get it every time I am here, and it is always on point. Seeing it be freshly made and called out at the front counter gives a sense of excitement. Even though it's 30 degrees out, I find myself still in the mood for one.

Decided to stop in for what looked like a cool looking café in the heart of the university district. Since Blackbeard roasts its own beans on site we expected to walk into that great coffee smell from beans roasting and fresh coffee being brewed. But when we opened the door and stepped inside we were hit with a open sewer smell. You couldn't even notice the scent of coffee. Ordered a couple of flat whites which had designs on top and were delicious. Barista was very friendly. The seating area could have used some tidying up. I pick places to visit based on reviews and a lot of the photos seem staged/perfect. Blackbeard was another example of that. While we were at the cafe it was a ugly fall/winter day outside. So there were leaves that either blew in or we're dragged in to the Cafe. No big deal but it just doesn't leave a good image. And whom I believed to be the owner seemed busy on his phone rather than taking two seconds to clean the floor to elevate the atmosphere. Also the roasting area which is in the open appeared sloppy. I get the idea of providing that 'live' feeling of the roasting but 3 coffee bean bags lay on the floor looking disheveled. One of them was under the swag rack. And as you looked back towards the roaster there were numerous white pails lying around. I get it. The pails are part of the process. Just could have been more organized so you didn't feel you were in someone's garage. Good coffee, poor atmosphere.

I love the coffee at Blackbeards! They always make my cappuccino just perfectly. So happy to have a local coffee shop that knows my preferences and always delivers!

Went on a Saturday morning, only 1 girl working behind the counter. Was told there was not even any whole milk.. ordered a cappuccino and it was bitter and undrinkable. Would never visit again.

editing after we’ve tried the chai:
Tastes like the concentrate got confused with the real thing. Talk about candle in your mouth… hire some knowledgeable capable staff, and appropriately staff them. And let’s work on your inventory as well. It was not even 8:30 and you’re out of whole milk.

Me and my husband decided to try it while we we're downtown. Honestly say it was the worst coffee I ever had. Coffee tasted overly burnt and as of it had been sitting all day. Worse, add a watery taste to it as it was weak. Both a terrible combination for coffee. I really kept trying it and tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. But no, it just wasn't good. The customer service was okay. Cleanliness wasn't there, but I'll say probably due to lunch time. But still. I'll take my remaining taste buds somewhere else and try something else.

Visited Blackbeard Coffee Roasters while in Greenville, NC. Glad I stopped. My cortado was excellent! Smooth medium roast espresso and finely textured milk made for an enjoyable drink. Worth the trip!
