The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. The staff may be a little bit laid-back but they get the job done. And I really wish they would open back up!

I don't think this place is open. On 10/5/21 it had no light and no cars in parking lot. Doorway looked like no one had been there in some time

Mazatlan is the single greatest authentic Mexican restaurant experience in Eastern North Carolina. The food is phenomenal. Everything is cooked, seasoned, and prepared to perfection. It is simply delicious. I cannot get enough of it. Another major benefit to the cuisine is the abundance and quality of the chips and salsa. I have never had better salsa at any other restaurant. The food at this establishment puts all other Mexican food in Greenville to miserable soul-crushing shame. The staff at Mazatlan are charming, courteous, and lovely. The owner Rico, a horse-riding legend in Eastern North Carolina, frequently comes to check on all his guests. His infectious charisma and suave add an authentic flavor to the entire experience that cannot be beat. I could really write an entire book about how much I love Rico and his magnificent restaurant. If you claim to be a true Eastern North Carolinian and have not sampled from Rico’s wares, you are the most pitiful of liars. Support local business! Eat Mazatlan!!

Okay it's kind of a dive restaurant, but if you're looking for decent Mexican food, generous servings, and reasonable prices served by friendly waif staff, check them out. Nothing fancy but all the standard fare, just varying combinations served up steaming hot on plates that are too hot to touch. It's in the back of the parking lot so don't give up. We were a bit concerned when arriving for lunch on Cinco de Mayo and being the only customers. Others soon followed. We beat the crowd of who seemed like regulars.

Ordered take out on Cinco de Mayo by accident not realizing how busy it was (duh on our part), and the food was still amazing and well cooked even given how busy and packed it was. This is my second time eating here and I feel like the food has the home cooked flavors and quality to it. No generic quality to it. We both had the New Mexico entree which is steak, shrimp, onions, spinach, etc and it was super tasty and not over cooked steak like some other restaurants do. They gave extra chips and salsa too. Appreciated the service given the busy night they were having.

Went there for Cinco de Mayo, they had somewhere between 5 and 7 people working so there was no reason for poor service. No one was in front of us, but it took our party of 3 15 minutes just to get seated. We were seated at 7:38, gave our order at 7:50, and at 8:20, still didn’t have our food. The table across from us started playing Uno because it took so long to give their order. They finally got up and left after 45 minutes. The table behind us left and when their food arr

After living in Texas and New Mexico for 14 years, then, being able to travel to Mexico. One thing I learned was, "stay away from big chain restaurants when it comes to authentic food". It is hard to find good food and great prices. This place is amazing for both! I tried the Quesadilla Jalisco with rice and beans, and cleared my plate. Most restaurants I dine are generic and their flavors are bland. This is definitely not the case here. Customer service was great as well. We were greeted, got our table, placed the order, food came quickly, and off we went. The hostess was interactive - not in that annoying, constant "how's everything?" way, and just made us feel comfortable as if we had went to a family or friends house for dinner. We'll definitely be back.

Always great food, Rico's resturants have never disappointed. With a huge menu to choose from!

Got order of two entrees wrong by mixing up entrees with completely different items. I called them and asked them if we get the correct food and brought back the messed up order. When I got back to the restaurant the hostess up front seemed almost angry with me because they messed up the order. Got the food and left. The food was incredibly greasy, and they skimp you on the cheese and salsa 10/10 would not recommend.

Rice was crunchy, chicken was soggy. Felt nauseous after a few bites. Also the place in general isn't clean.

Absolutely atrocious. This is the furthest thing from authentic Mexican food. The chicken looks like canned food from a nuclear apocalypse shelter, and came cold in the taco. The salsa is served in a curved jar-like glass and wouldn't come out when the glass was turned over. The "authentic" tacos came with mozzarella looking cheese and lettuce with canned chicken. I was offered pinto beans and served refried. The margarita tasted like Kool Aid with some hand sanitizer in it. I'm sorry but this place is just awful.

It was aweful for 30.00! The rice looked like white rice, the shrimp was rubbery and not even cooked to orange color and most of my meal was peppers and onions. This was my first and last time eating here. I also ordered chips with the white cheese dip only to receive a few nachos with some white cheese dip ( very little amount) on top of my chips already and this was take out, so by the time i got home to eat them they were soggy and soft.
