I ordered a transformer themed two tier birthday cake for my son. I picked up my order mid afternoon on 5/29 for his party the following day. Due to COVID I did not open the cake box in store. Upon getting home and opening the box I noticed the plastic pieces included in the design were on upside down (words and pictures literally upside down). Fast forward to party time cut the cake only to find the chocolate cake I ordered was not chocolate, but white. I had no choice but to serve the cake.I am disappointed in the product. I paid $68 expecting an as pictured in the Walmart Bakery design book—two tier—chocolate cake, but received a upside down white cake.Credit to Walmart, the white cake and buttercream icing were good.I called the Walmart bakery today and spoke with the bakery manager. She apologized for not providing the cake that was expected and told me she would give me my next cake order at half price.I gave three stars for this review because the Walmart bakery did not give me what I ordered. However, the cake tasted good and the customer service I received in response to their mistake was very nice.
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE - if I could post 0 starts, I would! I called the bakery last week to ask if they had a certain image that I wasn’t wanting on my cake and after giving the lady the item number for it, she confirmed that they did indeed have that image in their bakery. She instructed me to put the item number in the comments box when I submit my custom cake order online so I did. Finally, the day rolls around and it’s time for me to go get my cake. When I woke up, I noticed I had a missed call from the bakery so before going to pick it up, I call the bakery to make sure that my cake is ready. When I call to ask if it’s ready, the lady says that YES, it is ready. When I get to the bakery to pick up my cake, they bring out a BLANK cake. They then inform me that they do not have the image I had ask for and that they don’t even know what image I was asking for!? At this point I was VERY upset. Also the cake is MUCH smaller than what I anticipated since it says it will feed 12 people. Anyways, since they don’t have my image the lady shows me maybe 2 or 3 images of the character that they do have. I pick an image and then walk around the store while they finish my cake. I would like to add - I had picked out a special caption to be written on this cake to go with the image I chose, so now I’m even more upset because the caption I chose isn’t even going to make since with the new image I had to choose. Anyway, after walking around the store for a while I come back to the bakery and the lady brings my cake to me and the backup image I had chose wasn’t even the image she put on the cake!!! When I mentioned this, she denied it and didn’t even seem to care! At this point I was so fed up so I just took the cake and left. I will never be getting a “custom” cake from Walmart ever again. I advise you to save the headache and go somewhere else.
I wish there were more places like this around town. Service treated us so kindly.
