Epic Catering and Eatery / Mel's Place

We had Epic cater our wedding, and it was absolutely delicious! From the pre-ceremony appetizers and passed hors d’oeuvres to the buffet dinner, everything was incredible. Our families kept coming up to us saying how amazing the food was—and since it was a destination wedding, many even asked us how we found such a gem.

The menu was perfect: Autumn Leaves salad, roasted sweet potato salad, spanakopita, beef brisket, sweet tea chicken, mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and white cheddar mac and cheese. Every dish felt like a new favorite, and the flavors were spot on. Epic truly helped make our day unforgettable!

Went for lunch it was amazing, going back for dinner. Nice atmosphere, food was prepared perfectly, and waitress was very nice. Great story behind this establishment, go check it out it out if you’re ever in Hayesville NC.

Epic is amazing 👏. They have a delicious brunch menu on Sundays. Lunch multiple days a week. And dinner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. They have live music on Thursdays as well as a few other days and a full bar. The food is excellent, reasonably priced and the service is great. This hidden gem is well worth a visit.

The food is decent but the owners are both very rude. I recently experienced one of the owners yelling and being rude to a coworker of mine who did everything in her power to help her. From giving her new water meters to shaving off a chunk of the bill. I understand that they lived here and grew up here. While she’s a teacher at HHS, I don’t see how that gives her a right to chew off someone’s head. Especially because my coworker was very nice and went out of her way to help this restaurant out. #golden rule. I’m sorry but if you treat someone rudely they can only control themselves to an extent. If you want kindness and positivity you have to give it to receive it back.

I’m a sales rep and host client lunches often. Not only is the food delicious, service is on point! Deliveries are always on time and set up nicely. They even worked with me when I had something come up at the last minute. Will continue to use them for catered luncheons.

We've had lunch at Epic/Mel's many times, and it's always been delicious, so we hired them to cater a party. Working with Karl to finalize the menu and with Tommy, our on-site caterer, was such a pleasure! Very knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. The food was wonderful and everything ran smoothly - would HIGHLY recommend!

Epic is our absolute favorite place to go. The service is always the best around, especially Brooke!! She always makes the fantastic dinner even better with her friendliness and attentiveness. And, the food!! The appetizers, the soups and salads, the entrees, and the desserts!! Bring your appetite because you’re going to want to try it all!

I’ve eaten at Epic many times and I always ask for Tanya to be my server. She’s always pleasant and prompt with filling my drinks when they get low. If you happen to visit be sure to ask for her!

The food is always fresh and delicious as well. When guests come to visit my resort I always send them to Epic and tell them to request Tanya if they want top notch service!

The service was almost non-existent and when it was, our server Tanya, seemed inconvenienced and was very curt. Very disappointed. This is base solely on the lack of service and not the quality of food.

Brooke was excellent! We ordered the Rueben on a bagel, absolutely delicious!! My husband got the lox and bagel and being from NJ he’s picky about bagels! It more than met our expectations. We’ll be back.

Brooke the Bartender was excellent. We enjoyed some great drinks to celebrate the Kentucky Derby. The Mint Julep was a great classic, while the Woodford Spire was very interesting with a balance of Bourbon, Sour, and Cranberry!!
The Bacon Wrapped Pork Medallions were amazing and very flavorful!!

Service was so rude that I could not recommend it to anyone. We were at the JC Campbell Folk School and had to grab a quick lunch. A very nice lady from the wellness center across from the school suggested we go to Epic since the restaurant across from the school only serves dinner. We ordered our food to go since we only had a short time and chose something that could be made quickly along with a few desserts. We were happy that the food did come quickly and since there was time, hardly anyone in the restaurant and we needed to eat, we asked if it was okay if we stay at the table we’d waited at and have some food before driving back. The waitress said, “ It’s not normally something we do, but go ahead“ as if she was extremely unhappy about it. I was confused and said, ”What?”. She continued, “Well, if an owner comes in, they may ask you to leave”. I was shocked. I said, “We spend our money here and can’t sit here just because we asked for it to go?”. Her comeback was, “Well, what was the point in the to-go containers we wasted?” I couldn’t believe that she would even bring that up to a paying customer. We already knew we wouldn’t finish and would take the rest to go. And, shockingly, I believe she was right. A lady who I believe was the owner walked by and mumbled something to her and she said, “That’s what I said!“. I could be wrong, but I believe that she had asked her, “Why are they eating to-go in?“ Anyway, I think everyone except the nice young girl who got our desserts was super rude and I would never ever return. The food was small in serving size and mediocre, at best.
