I just ate here for the first time on Saturday. Absolutely adorable place, fresh, yummy food & great shopping!! I look forward to coming back next time I’m in town!
Very nice restaurant. Different in that, you place your order before seated. The food and service were spot on! And did I mention the shopping?!
With fond memories of going to A Day in the Country several years ago, we returned today after touring in the area. We were terribly disappointed. The quality of the food in the restaurant has substantially declined. We ordered chicken salad sandwiches with toast and the chophouse potato soup as a side. The potato soup was so oversalted, it was inedible. It had also been sitting in the pot for quite some time, as you could tell that the starch in the potatoes had overdeveloped, and there was a slimy film on the potatoes. The toast was barely toasted but dry, as if it had been put in a toaster oven for about 20 seconds. The greatest disappointment, however, was the chicken salad, which resembled canned cat food. I do not say this lightly. It was so over-mixed as to by ground up into a paste or paté, almost. The only "solid" substance was the bit of cranberry. Otherwise, it was as if eating a paste of chicken and mayonnaise with no seasoning or flavor. It looked, smelled, and tasted exactly like what we feed our cat. Neither of us could finish it or stomach waiting for any other food. The waitstaff was nice, but we would not return.
Food is good. Staff is great! Lots of great items in their large, 2 story gift shop. Gifts & decor change with the seasons.
Not what it used to be, still a nice stop.
Lovely restaurant and shop with indoor and outdoor seating! We had a group of 7 with a 4yr old and an infant. The staff were amazing and helpful in getting us situated, and the ladies working the shop were sweet.
Our group had an assortment of 4 or 5 sandwiches; everything was reported “delicious” by the group. Service was fast and our eating experience was great. Highly recommend for a lunch spot and unique fun times shopping for local goods or items.
Bonus points if you time your visit right and get one of the rocking chairs on the front porch!
ADITC is a delightful place! The shopping experience is fun! Clothes, jewelry, home decor and more. The cafe has something for everyone - salads, sandwiches, wraps, sides, and delicious desserts. I always bring out of town company to ADITC, and I often enjoy lunch with local friends there.
I've been here a couple times now and it's just wonderful! I've yet to make it at breakfast time but the lunch time food is excellent! I got the turkey jam with tomatoe soup. Oh so yummy! And do not skip out on dessert! Just ask them to hold onto for you in the fridge and grab it when you leave. Personally I love the peanut butter buckeye and the tuxedo cake but friends have gotten the scones which are just as good. My suggestion would be go shopping first and then eat! Everything changes w the seasons so be sure to come visit often!
Excellent lunch here and such lovely items for sale.
love love love Day in the County! I have been coming here to shop since I was a little girl! I really enjoyed my last shopping trip because I was able to find items for my wedding! Highly recommend to stop here, grab a bite to eat and shop! The ladies inside are always so kind!

Went to lunch with friends. The service was great and the food was delicious. I had the chicken salad and potato salad. Both were excellent!
Wow! We just happened to find this place while driving through NC....it was a delightful treat. Our lunch was fantastic. Lots ot great selections on the menu...some traditional items and some specialty items. We enjoyed browsing the gift shop which had some very lovely thngs.
Great breakfast food! Will be back for sure!
Absolutely fantastic lunch and great shop for the ladies. Will be coming back whenever in the area. I had the seasonal strawberry croissant sandwich with goat cheese, spinach, bacon, and hot pepper jam & a side of sunshine slaw. I have not been that satisfied from a lunch for as long as I can remember. I went out of my comfort zone, tried thair weird seasonal sandwich, and was greatly rewarded.
Excellent food and atmosphere…I highly recommend this place
