Having lived in California. We moved here 7 years ago dissatisfied with most Mexican food. BUT....Papa's & Beer serves California Mexican about as good as you can get anywhere in the Carolinas. We have a favorite waitress Lilly and the owner Larry comes from Los Angeles and runs a great business!

A charming Mexican styled restaurant. Extremely large servings with faithful dishes reminiscent of true Mexican cuisine. This place took a lot of damage from Hurricane Helene back in September of 2024 and are still performing repairs from the damage so the building has seen better days. However this does not take away from the delicious food you will receive here.

The food and service was great, but we were overcharged by around $6.00. The menu had prices for our dishes at $11.99 & $12.99, and we were charged $15.99 for both. Please update the menu!
Great food great service and cold beer. I got the sizzling enchiladas and they were great. The fajitas were also tasty. The charbroiled chicken is a good touch. Will definitely be back

This is a local favorite. Often times there are lines out the door to be seated. I definitely think it is worth the wait. We have been coming here for some time now. The staff is great and the food is consistently wonderful. We have started to go either right at 11am when they open or after the lunch crowd, and like to be there when it is less crowded. If you are looking for something good for lunch, based on our positive experiences, I would recommend you do consider this Papa’s n Beer.
