Shine is, by far, one of my all-time favorite restaurants, not just in Hendo, but in the world. The cuisine, libations, atmosphere, service are always impeccable.
Saturday night (2/21/26) my husband and I were seated within minutes without a reservation (which we normally make because we know the place is always busy because it is so awesome.)
Then we had the pleasure of being attended to by Naomi during our dining experience. She was so knowledgeable, kind, engaging, enthusiastic, and detail oriented. Answered every question, made wonderful suggestions, and was attentive without being overbearing. I worked in the food service industry for 20+ years, so I know an excellent dining and service experience when I see one, so to speak.
I had the RI Dutchie raw oysters which were on special, a wedge salad, perfect dirty vodka martini (with bleu cheese stuffed olives) service, and an espresso. My husband had the French cut, dry rubbed wings, an Aviator, Dark & Stormy, and Moscow Mule (featuring their ginger beer which is made in house and is absolutely heavenly, btw!)
Everything was delicious perfection!
Best raw oysters I’ve eaten in my life!
So much so, my husband and I have invited my husband’s sister and her husband to join us there this coming Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. I’ve already made the reservation! We hope to see Naomi again, as well!
(10/10 would recommend!)

Overall great experience! I would definitely visit again. The Quiche, Duck Fat Fries and Jalisco Biscuits are worth reordering.

Went Saturday with friends for dinner. Our food was terribly spicy. Everyone’s food at the table, guessing they had a heavy handed chef on the spice table. Our waiter was terrific very knowledgeable. We paid our bill & get home look at our checking account & there was a chafe for $290.00 😳😳😳 was not our tab!!! Called the manager & he gave my husband some story about that happens sometimes!!! REALLY R U KIDDING!! Here it is Tuesday & it’s still pending in our account which is RIDICULOUS! So Beware! Pay cash don’t go thru what we are! Never again SHINE! Great News! Spoke to a manager that knew what he was doing, she spoke to one of the owners & she took care of it with in an hour or so!!
Thank you Ma’am!

Been coming to Shine for almost 5 years now whenever I’m in the hendo area, always a great stop! The place is super cool and unique inside probably one of my favorite restaurant designs, food is great , tons of beers on tap and a rooftop when the weather is nice. Definitely try if you are in the area or live near. Thank you Shine!

Whether I’m grabbing a drink at the bar or sitting down for dinner with family or clients, Shine delivers. The bartenders make you feel welcome the second you sit down, and the service at the tables is just as good—attentive without hovering. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind after work or host a client and know it’ll go smoothly.

We had a really delicious meal here and the service was excellent too. The sweet potato ravioli was a nice blend of sweet & spice, and my husband’s short rib was so tender & delicious. Highly recommend!

When Shine first opened I thought it was alright. I would visit there once in a while. However, recently we've been going there a lot more. It seems like pricing went up a little bit, but the quality of the food was well worth it. I've had fresh oysters, rack of lamb, ribeye, shrimp cocktail, and a flat ironed sandwich with shredded duck.

It was all excellent and the drinks were pretty good too.

I would say the only downside to eating there is it's very packed and loud on a busy night. The entry way is claustrophobic and some of the seating makes you feel a little to close to the action. I prefer to sit in the downstairs area where it's not as congested.

You can tell they train their service team in detail.

This restaurant has become a staple for my fiancé and me whenever we visit Hendersonville. It is a wonderful choice for date night. Every dish we’ve tried has been exceptional, and the rotating menu options are a great bonus. The Pain Killer cocktail is also excellent and definitely worth trying

I’m writing this after giving Shine multiple chances, which makes this review especially disappointing. Unfortunately, the issues here are consistent - not isolated incidents.

Parking is difficult, the dining room is freezing, and it’s extremely loud. Service has been mediocre to poor every time we’ve visited, but today was the final straw.

I ordered the short ribs, a dish I’ve had before. While the meat itself is fine, the sides - gorgonzola potato purée and broccolini - are not to my taste. I simply asked if I could substitute fries or mashed potatoes and was completely fine paying extra. The waitress responded curtly and said she would “try.”

Shortly after, a man came to the table and told me that due to “presentation,” they could not remove or substitute the purée or broccolini. I explained I had tried the sides before, didn’t like them, and didn’t care about presentation. He flatly refused.

This has happened before. On a previous visit, I ordered the tournedos (ends of beef tenderloin) medium well and was told the kitchen would only prepare it medium rare. I do not eat rare meat.

This has nothing to do with cost - we can easily pay for our food. This is about rigid policies, dismissive attitudes, and poor customer service. Shine is not a Michelin-starred restaurant with a fixed tasting menu, yet it treats reasonable requests as unacceptable.

We left today without ordering.

Lastly, the one-star reviews about the crème brûlée are accurate: it’s served in an overly thick cup with a sugar topping so thin it barely qualifies as “brûlée”.

Before going, read the one-star reviews. They mirror our experience. Save your time and money. There are far better restaurants that actually value their customers.

Food was a 10/10. We are out on vacation. I got the Steak Frite and my husband got the Ribeye. We had Key Lime Pie for dessert. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. Highly recommend.

The beef tartare was some of the best I've ever had; it was soft as butter and had extra capers and shallots on the side. The duck was also excellent, served with a seasonal sauce and a daily vegetable side, and cooked to perfection—the duck leg simply melts in your mouth. I compare the crème brûlée to what I've had in France: very rich, deep in flavor, heavy but satiny and smooth, and a manageable portion.
