Zapata Mexican Restaurant

Dropped in for lunch and I was very pleased with the food and service. Chicken Pollo with beans. Chips and salsa were good and the sweet tea was excellent.

Food was good but service was not what’s expected. The automatic 15% tip caught me off guard, I planned on leaving a tip but did not appreciate that they added it them selves to my ticket. This was our first time and we will not be returning.

The staff is so rude!! The woman who serves and has her children there alot of the time is the rudest. Not only that she adds tip to our check autimatically. I asked why. She cant speak or understand Engish very well. She tried to say its because others leave cash on table. Thats stupid because how would she know prior that we we're not going to lay a cash tip on the table. I asked another customer and they had not added tip to their check. We have been there several times and all the staff is rude but she takes the cake.

Well, in my personal opinion I can tell you that the food is very good, there is only one small detail, the service leaves a lot to say, they have to put more effort into it, it seems that they are going to give the food to you because they serve reluctantly.....

Very terrible, staff is very rude , when I got there they turned off the lights and resfussed to serve us and when we left turned the lights back on. The only waitress that’s female is a witch. They do not want to fix anything. I recommend El Paso down the road that’s always busy and have phenomenal service

Food is good. I like their enchiladas verdes. Service is a bit slow. Atmosphere is ok, but I don't go for the atmosphere.

The food is decent but service and staff is absolute garbage. Got mad bc I asked for a lime bc the one I got was dry. They tried to charge me 5$. I refused to pay it. 5 for a lime wedge?!The female waitress there with her kids is especially rude. I recommend one of the many other fantastic Mexican restraunts in our town.

Not going back there. I've been a good tipper (20-25%), "trying" to get the wait staff to be nice to me and it's just not working, even after about 30+ attempts! It's not worth it anymore. I like the food but this is ridiculous. Everyone working there (except for Lewis) is just rude! You will never get a smile from their wait staff. I've been spending about $50 a month there, so this is $600 a year, Zapatas will lose from me.
Lewis brought my chips and drink to my table. 15 minutes later, young guy, "my so-called waiter" walked up & said "what do you want?" I said, could I please have a refill on my drink and could you give me five more minutes with the menu? My waiter rolled his eyes at me. 15 minutes had passed, my waiter walked by me twice, never got me a refill on my drink, which was sitting empty out on the end of my table. I waved at my waiter, I'm ready to order now, he said "in a minute" & kept on walking. (He went to the bar and sat down, looking at his phone.) I finally flagged down Lewis for a drink refill. 15 minutes later, the waiter finally came back & took my order. Next time I saw him, 30 minutes later, he brought a plate of food out, sat it in front of me and walked away and never said a word to me. (30 minutes to get my order in and then another 30 minutes to get my food.) There were only three other people in the restaurant. My waiter never gave me my drink refill, he never came back to my table other than to set my plate of food down and walk away without saying a word to me AND he never brought me a ticket either! I guess it was the cook (I asked if he was a manager or owner & he said no) that cashed me out.) So when I left no tip this time, the cook (?) came out the front door & yelled, as I was already opening my car door... he said, "No tip? No tip no service." I walked up to him, back to the front door and explained nicely, why I did not leave a tip today, saying, I'm NOT tipping someone that refuses to refill my drink even once, nor did my waiter ever come back over to my table, he never asked if I needed anything else and he never brought me a ticket. That's not good service. I had to go ask someone else, to get me a refill on my drink. (I also watched a customer's 8/9yo kid get up & go refill his mom's drink from the fountain AND then go find the to-go boxes for their food. So obviously they weren't being waited on properly either.)
I just read the reviews and I'm NOT the only person this has happened to. This waiter has been rude to me before. This isn't the first time. I'm tired of the staff's rudeness & non-attentiveness. They don't deserve a "tip" if they're not going to do their job. (God forbid one of them should actually smile at a customer!) I've been too nice for too long. I'm done. (Lewis is the ONLY nice waiter in that place & he waited on me for the 1st time last week.) Zapatas would probably refuse to serve me again, since I would not leave a tip today. Fine! (The front of their menu says NO TIP NO SERVICE. The menu also says they expect 15 to 30% tip from each customer.) .
So I guess I'm done with Zapata's in Hendersonville NC. I'm 65 years old and they have the worst wait staff, that I've ever dealt with. I'm ticked off. I'm done.

First time and last time here. Took an hour and a half to get our food and we were just one table of 3 other patrons who were seated. Asked about our food after an hour and there was no apology offered, but disdain that we asked. Very rude employees and lack of professionalism.

I refused to tip today because the waiter flat out ignored me and wouldn't even give me one drink refill. This has happened before. I will not spend my money at Zappatas again. I'm a good tipper but not when the waiter is purposely ignoring me. This is not the first time the staff has been rude.

The worst experience in a restaurant, especially if you are Hispanic, don't go there. If you are white, the treatment is different, and I have never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant like there.

Portions and taste uhmm it was ok. You can’t add extra tacos or get just one to try different meats, it hast to be whole order ?also I just don’t think enforcing tip is good when the service is mediocre. I wouldn’t mind to pay tip if the service is good

Ordered the steak burrito, the meat was very tough. The rice and beans were good. Our server was not friendly and never came back to see if we needed anything. We felt like we were bothering them.
