Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodle) is a simple dish, yet Thai Spice managed to ruin it in a complex way. The rice noodles were covered in a high fructose sauce out of a bottle from their vendor Concept Foods, and was 100% absent of any relation to the Pad Kee Mow spicy sauce. The very few vegetables were mostly julienne cut onions with a few yellowed, flaccid broccoli that had died many warming trays ago. This place should change its name to Thai Bland Restaurant.
We went for dinner while on vacation and were seated immediately. The staff was attentive and welcoming (especially Nam :) The food was delicious, particularly the Southern Charm Fried Rice. It was a delicious variation on the more familiar Pineapple Fried Rice. I will definitely return when I'm back in the area!
Met a dear friend there to celebrate her birthday. She is a regular, I was not! The food was spectacular. The service was outstanding I could not ask for better.
I had a vegetable stir fry with added tofu. It was very flavorful and filling. I ordered to go and received order quickly. Server understood vegan options.
Fresh spring rolls with chicken and shrimp and ginger rice soup. The chicken was beautiful white meat and sliced and so good! The fresh springs rolls had excellent quality ingredients including lots of greens and veggies. I will eat here any time I’m in town!
Ordered a dish with rice, chicken, shrimp and pineapple. There was a huge plate of rice with four under cooked tasteless shrimp, the chicken was only a few flakes that were so small you could not taste. There were 4-5 chunks of pineapple and a minimal amount of other spices. I ordered a level 3 hot but the dish was bland. Basically a large plate of rice for $23. Want go back.
Great red curry. Amazing fried rice.

Generous portions. Friendly staff. Was visiting during the apple festival. They were very busy and the service was quick, the food was hot and fresh. We really enjoyed ourselves.

I have spent time in Asia. I love its people and their food, whether at an upscale restaurant or a street vendor.
The food at Thai Spice is so-so at best, especially since they are pricey. Moreover, the manager does not understand the concept of customer service. They had a young woman taking phone orders who barely understood English and spoke it even less. It took my sister---an English teacher and social worker---10 minutes to convey our order for three people. She was on speaker so I heard both sides of the conversation.
When we returned home, I noticed my dinner of fried rice was missing. I called to reorder and had another conversation that went like “Who’s on first, What’s on second. Finally, I asked for the manger, who gave me less than a minute because she was “busy.” I requested to have the dish for free, since I had to go back across town and miss eating with the others through no fault of my own.
When I arrived, they refused me any concession except for a second Thai Iced tea, which I did not want. I asked to speak to the owner and the manger said the girl answering the phone was the owner. A blatant lie. I have met the owner. I pointed out to the manager that she had put the young lady and me in a difficult position and left it at that.
So, how does this establishment get end up with 4 stars? Well, it isn’t much of a stretch to be best out of three Thai restaurants in the North Carolina outback. Put them in Asheville and they would hardly earn 2 stars. Put them in San Francisco and they wouldn’t last a month.
P.S. The girl answering the phone was the sweetest person you would ever want to meet and trying her best. I empathized with her and tried to make it clear that she was doing fine.

Fabulous experience from the facility and decor to the absolutely delicious authentic Thai food. We had a favorite Thai restaurant in the Asheville / Western NC area which was Sora in Brevard and this place was equal or better in every way. The green curry chicken was stunning as was the Tom Kha soup and my wife’s salad and shrimp appetizer wrapped in remaine, coconut, with peanuts and ginger. The entire experience was 6 on a scale of 1 to 5. Absolutely outstanding including the service from our server. Highly highly recommended.

I got the Pad Thai and it wasn’t bad. I was a little disappointed that the lunch menu wasn’t available on weekends. There was a bit of a language barrier with my server, but I was able to order what I wanted.
