The owners and whoever runs the social media are extremely unprofessional and emotional when responding to the public. Respectful comments which were in disagreement with a post they made regarding switching to an ingredient that is problematic to people with allergies or dietary restrictions were deleted. Then the owners attempted to gaslight myself, as well as others, when we asked why comments were being removed. I was essentially called a liar, which I screen shot, before they ultimately decided just to block me from the page. This happened to multiple others as well. Unprofessional to say the least.

Both orders were wrong, they forgot the coffee and what was ordered. No vanilla for the coffee, 95% milk. They dont have what they advertise on there menu.

Updated: Went back today. Food was delish as usual. Tea, to-go cups, and loyalty cards available.

I love Cafe Gouda, and I think their food is delish, but today, the table was sticky, they were out of tea, I asked for a to-go cup for my drink and was told no as they were running low (even though several dine-in customers who came after me had plastic to go cups), and they said they were out of the sandwich loyalty punch cards (which is a feature of the restaurant that I truly love as I visit often). Maybe just an off day as it seemed the speed of service was delayed compared to usual. I will be back, but hoping next time for a to-go cup and loyalty card. ;)

I have always appreciated a healthier breakfast option with Cafe Gouda. However, with the excessive amounts of gnats and the 40 minute wait time for a wrap, I will likely not be returning.

30 bucks for two sandwiches, respectively served with stone cold waffle fries of the sweet and Idaho sort. We took the fries back and they replaced the cold with grease and over re-fried. So long, CG, once loved to visit, but this was our last visit, period.

Stop in for lunch today after not being in for several months. Ordered two specials; one with sweet potato fries and the other regular waffle fries. The fries were stone cold. I asked if we could some fresh hot fries. Sure, no problem! They came out again barely warm but after a quick dunk in the oil so they're swimming in oil. Nice!
Not coming back. Used to be one of our favorite places to eat.
Would love to have posted a photo...

Served my 3 year old grand son RAW CHICKEN.... I ordered him the kids plate chicken tenders which came with two pieces. One was raw and the other was under cooked.. thank God he was eating the fries and my daughter decided to break them in half so he could manage them better..... Never will I eat here again. The cook severed a child's plate with raw chicken. Can't get much worse than that.

Our family has loved Gouda since we moved to Hickory - great food and service, and the gluten-free options have been a welcome choice for a family member that needs it. Unfortunately, Cafe Gouda recently switched all their chicken dishes to use chicken thighs, and...it simply doesn't taste good. The dishes that we loved have really taken a hit in quality since the switch. I hate to cross this restaurant off our list of regular patronage, but until they switch back to chicken breast, we won't be back. We truly hope you switch back soon - or at least give us an option!

First time coming and it was okay, maybe we didn’t know what was good to order for breakfast here… I was invited out to this place but probably wouldn’t come on my own. Service was pretty slow plus we needed one of our orders fixed cause we asked for no tomato and the hash brown casserole had an overwhelming amount of onion, it ended up taking 30+ mins to get that order back. Not to mention a small hair that was under the side of my pancake which I couldn’t take a picture of because my boyfriend didn’t want to mention anything to anyone and just avoid the area the hair was in 😅 The bacon
also had an odd brownish color to it which threw me off, the only thing you can’t go wrong with is a pancake 👍

I want to start by saying the service here was great, everyone was really kind. Food came out in timely manner and was completely accurate. The coffees were good and I love that they don’t charge extra for substitutes. However, I won’t be coming back for the food. Out of the 4 items we got, a Reuben, a breakfast sandwich, hashbrowns, and “fruit salad” nothing had any flavor. The Reuben had no sauce and was dry. The breakfast sandwich had an overcooked egg and the bread had too much oil. The hashbrowns didn’t taste like anything? And the fruit cup was 4 days old and half of the fruit was withered and browning. Again I might go back for the coffee and the service but I highly recommend avoiding the food.

Only a 4 star for the food. The omelette was not worth the price, very mediocre. The banana muffin tho… it was great. I’ll try something else next time and I hope for it to be better.
