“Plant-Based Boss was out of this world! I almost don’t want to write a review because I don’t want this fantastic secret to get out.I discovered Plant-Based Boss by searching for vegan restaurants in Hickory, NC, fully expecting to see the typical places with one or two vegetarian options. But then! But then Plant-Based Boss popped up, and I wasn’t sure it indeed was what it looked like. The menu mentioned things like spare ribs and chorizo. What?!So, my husband and a couple of friends planned a couple’s date night and drove an hour and a half to try the food. Surprisingly and to our delight, we got so much more than hoped for. The ambiance was fresh and inviting. A charming and friendly lady greeted us and took our orders. She explained the menu, that almost everything was made in-house, including their veggie “meats,” vegan cheeses, and sauces. The offerings included tacos, burritos, boats, and more. And yet, this food was like no tacos, burritos, or boats I’ve ever experienced.When our food arrived, it blew our minds. We were enthralled with our choices. We oohed and aahed at each other’s meal. The flavors were fantastic! I ordered one of the bowls. I won’t try to describe everything, but I have shared a few pics for your enjoyment.Although I hope the popularity of this beautiful new find doesn’t grow so big and fast as not to have room for us when we visit again, I hope everyone will try it because we need them and more places like them.My new favorite place to eat is Plant-Based Boss!Vegetarian options: Everything is not only vegetarian, it’s vegan.Dietary restrictions: Vega, vegetarian”

“I'm with a lot of the other reviews. Over priced much....... got the Gumbo. If you're going to serve someone Half of the container maybe put it in a smaller container so the customer doesn't feel jipped. The Gumbo was very flavorful with the right amount of spice. But 1 small scoop of rice..... rice is very inexpensive and they put it in a huge container to make it seem even smaller. $17 for a lunch. Nope”

“This cafe is AWESOME! I saw the sign across the street after getting my teeth cleaned, lol, and I decided to stop. The ladies were sooo friendly and gave the best recommendations. My iced latte was a special, off-the-menu creation, and it was so good! Way better than Starbucks! And the home-made pastries were amazingly delicious and pretty. I wanted to try all of them! I highly recommend the 3 Little Chicks, and I will definitely visit the next time I'm in the area - such a cute cafe, nice ambiance, a large variety of treats, and they have mini golf! Would be a great hang-out; I just wish I lived nearby!”

“I’m obsessed. Best Peruvian restaurant I’ve been to in NC. Well priced for the quality and authenticity of the food. I’m Peruvian, so my standards are high - and I am so glad I found this gem on my road trip. I had the ceviche carretillero which was perfection. If you can handle a little spice - you’re gonna be licking your plate at the end. The maracuya sour was divine and the pisco wasn’t overpowering which is just how I like it. I live 2.5 hours from here and I’ll be back. The staff was so pleasant and helpful. 10/10. Hickory, y’all are lucky to have access to a restaurant like this. If you’re new to Peruvian food, trust me… you can’t go wrong. I’ll be back.”

“First trip to Parkway House in a while, good to see things were chugging along busy as ever. Excellent waitress, pleasant and attentive. Food was the same good quality. Everything was clean or being cleaned. So if you're an original Springs Road native like me or just don't want to change out of your work clothes and desire to go somewhere unassuming, good food at a good price is waiting for you at Parkway House.Parking: Unload and reload right up front.Wheelchair accessibility: Sidewalk same level as parking lot, go right in through 2 glass doors (not automatic).”

“Of the 3 meals on our order, 2 were very good and one was less than. The only disappointing meal was the Taco salad. The shell was old and no longer crisp. The plates all were served with guacamole and it looked and tasted like that store prepackaged stuff. But! Service was fast and servers, although slammed, were attentive.”

“I'm not trying to be picky here, or a Karen. But we went to olive garden today at 11 and it was fantastic. Our server was wonderful and so was the food. The only complaint I have it we could hear a server talking very loudly about baby daddies, blacks, Mexicans and Catholics. I am none of these, but she was being very loud. We sat in the back of the restaurant and could hear everything. She was standing behind the bar in the kitchen area talking to other servers. I'm just saying that if the wrong person heard her talking it would have been ugly.”

“Such a wonderful experience!From the moment we walked in the door (we didn’t have a reservation) we were cheerfully greeted by Chris and seated at a lovely table by the window.Our server, Brittany greeted us shortly after we were seated and was genuinely interested in making sure we had the best dining experience.The house made yeast rolls were hot, soft and delicious and the salted butter was amazing!My husband and I both had salad, mine Ceasar with crab cakes and his pear with chicken and they were both fresh and delicious.The wine selection is extensive and Chris made a point to stop by and check to make sure we enjoyed our meal and talked about different wines on their menu.Brittany was attentive and we didn’t have to ask her for anything.We were too full for dessert and the selections sounded amazing!The historic building is beautifully decorated and maintained and the bathroom was spotless!The Vintage House is about an hour away from our home and definitely worth the drive.Thank you Chris, Brittany, Chef and all of the staff for a wonderful experience.We will be back and highly recommend.”

The freshness is profound. You can tell by the taste and texture it is made from scratch! Omg don’t even get me started with their dessert. I don’t even like lemon cake but you can’t not love their’s. Their tiramisu is flippin amazing too and perfection. Their desserts are far better than 5 stars desserts I’ve had! “me and my boyfriend ate here yesterday and i wanted to brag on them as well as express how thankful i am for the kindness and compassion they showed us. i had ordered the amigos super which is something i had never gotten before. long story short, it was made with a ranchero sauce that didn’t taste very good to me. i am a very anxious person, and i hate complaining or being difficult in any way. our waiter noticed i wasn’t eating, and came by to see if everything was okay. i told him i didn’t like what i had ordered, and he immediately suggested a substitute for the ranchero sauce, took what i didn’t eat to the kitchen and brought my food back within 10 minutes and made sure i liked it as well before leaving our table. it was delicious!! i wish i would’ve gotten our waiter’s name so i could give him a shoutout on here. i highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who hasn’t tried it. the service is fast, and they are all super friendly and understanding!! i’ll definitely be back in the future!”

“My children and I ate here today. Upon coming in, in which I'm Very observing. The young lady whom was supposed to serve us loudly said that she didn't want us. Therefore, another lady chose to serve us, she told me upon check out that her daughter went to Carrowinds today. God Bless her and everything that she touches. “It was our first visit to the angus steakhouse in hickory, nc. It was the best dine in experience we have EVER encountered. It felt like a true small town steakhouse. The staff were super friendly, they came around frequently talking to each table. You can tell they truly enjoy their job and the customers. The food was quick to come out and so fresh. I highly recommend, and we will return without question. The owner and staff really pour their heart into that restaurant!”

“Amazing little hole in the wall diner. Great food and selection of items. I always get the livermush, egg, and cheese with the livermush cooked crispy. And it's ALWAYS cooked to perfection. The employees are super friendly and helpful. They have limited hours and are only open for breakfast and lunch, so keep that in mind when you're wanting to order from here. The parking lot is small so just keep that in mind when coming here to eat. They don't have indoor dining, but they have a table or 2 outside to sit at and eat. This is a must try restaurant when you're in Hickory. Make sure to get napkins when you pick up your order because sometimes the sandwiches can get a little messy, but those are the best kinds to eat. Prices are outrageous like other places. I give this place a 10/10!!”

“This restaurant has an upscale vibe compared to the El Paso kind of Mexican restaurant. It was beautifully decorated and the service was great. The managers made our short wait enjoyable. Families were there having a wonderful time. Food was great. I didn't like the churros they were fried way too hard. Couldn't even eat them. But I took them to go. Would have been recooked had I ate them there no doubt. The managers and staff were there to make sure my experience was one of enjoyment.”

“My partner and I were promptly seated in a spacious booth. The atmosphere pleasant to the senses, wasnt crowded or noisy, with a comfortable temperature. The cosmopolitan and IPA arrived quickly with a tall glass of iced water. The potato skins appetizer, which followed shortly thereafter, was average. Our meals..my meal consisted of a crunchy fresh wedge salad with a deliciously chunky blue cheese dressing and chunks of blue cheese, and a perfectly cooked baked potato. My partner had a chicken sandwich with broccoli, which didn't last long. He said the chicken was cooked perfectly tender and tasty with toppings he requested, the broccoli was steamed. Our waitress, was friendly and knowledgeable, but not bothersome. Excellent service.”

“Best Hickory NC BBQ I've found. This place is small but great! They have the smoker out front so you see and smell it, it's awesome! The BBQ and Chicken are both delicious. The things that bumped it to a 4 for me is the service and hush puppies. The service is not BAD, but it's not GREAT... it's a happy medium. Granite they are always busy, but whether you are at a table or at the bar, it's about the same. They can be slow when it comes to service, but in no means is it bad. The hush puppies aren't my favorite side, but I enjoy some good hush puppies. They are a 6/10 here, again not terrible but not the best I've had. Overall this place is amazing! I am a frequent and will continue to be.”

“This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant between Alexander and Catawba counties. The staff is also SO incredibly friendly, service is fast, and the food is always outstanding. They have a variety of items on the menu, including vegetarian options. Drinks are a little bit pricey, but absolutely delicious and worth the treat. My partner and I have eaten here at least 30 times over the last year, and we've never had a bad experience. “Stopped here on my way by for a torta. Absolutely the best torta I’ve had thus far in my torta eating life and here’s why. A layer of refried beans that hold it together, pollo, tomato, onion, pickled jalapeño, avocado and a slice of cheese. The bread is dense, delicious and does not fall apart. This is the perfect lunch by itself…but wait…I ordered the green chilies, grilled onions and cactus too. Put this on your torta to add to the already amazing sandwich. I can’t wait to try their tacos.”

I highly recommend the 3 Little Chicks, and I will definitely visit the next time I'm in the area - such a cute cafe, nice ambiance, a large variety of treats, and they have mini golf! “I was lucky to get a tee time on 04/13/2023 after a mess up at GolfNow and found a tee time at Player's Ridge. i really enjoyed the layout. the course is set up well and very enjoyable. Some of the greens did not fair to well after the winter. I hope they come back soon. I will be back to play it later this summer once the grass comes in. The staff was very pleasant and quite friendly. I wish I lived closer to play it more often. it has a potential for a great course if a little more money was invested in the course it would be outstanding.”

The only complaint I have it we could hear a server talking very loudly about baby daddies, blacks, Mexicans and Catholics. I am none of these, but she was being very loud. We sat in the back of the restaurant and could hear everything. She was standing behind the bar in the kitchen area talking to other servers. I'm just saying that if the wrong person heard her talking it would have been ugly.”

I almost don’t want to write a review because I don’t want this fantastic secret to get out.I discovered Plant-Based Boss by searching for vegan restaurants in Hickory, NC, fully expecting to see the typical places with one or two vegetarian options. But then! But then Plant-Based Boss popped up, and I wasn’t sure it indeed was what it looked like. The menu mentioned things like spare ribs and chorizo. What?!So, my husband and a couple of friends planned a couple’s date night and drove an hour and a half to try the food. Surprisingly and to our delight, we got so much more than hoped for. The ambiance was fresh and inviting. A charming and friendly lady greeted us and took our orders. She explained the menu, that almost everything was made in-house, including their veggie “meats,” vegan cheeses, and sauces. The offerings included tacos, burritos, boats, and more. And yet, this food was like no tacos, burritos, or boats I’ve ever experienced.When our food arrived, it blew our minds. We were enthralled with our choices. We oohed and aahed at each other’s meal. The flavors were fantastic! I ordered one of the bowls. “My son had previously asked that we take he and his girlfriend to Kobe for dinner. The last time we tried to eat here, there was an hour + wait to seat 3 people. There was also no parking to be found. This time, we got there earlier, around 5:30pm. This time, the wait was about 15 minutes. Our group ordered an imperial dinner with filet, filet and shrimp, and hibachi chicken. Each meal came with the usual accompanying fried rice, vegetables, and cabbage, which makes for a huge plate of food. The food was very good. The filet, in particular, was super tender and perfectly cooked. The service was quick and attentive. The show was fun, especially for one member of our group who had never been to a Japanese steakhouse before.”

“I drove about 10 minutes out of my way to come to this particular location because I was hoping that they would be better than Shelby and I was so happy to find out they exceeded my expectations. I just so happened to mess up my online order like an idiot, but the manager there was so nice and accommodating to help me sort through it. I have not came across a manager for customer service, so kind, polite and courteous as he was. My extra most bestest pizza was also delicious. It remind me of what Little Caesars used to taste like.
