15 Best Sandwich Shops in Hickory

“Everything is fresh!!! Made fresh after you order!!“

“A hidden gem. It is not a sit in restaurant but the food is excellent. I love their desserts. My personal favorite is their livermush sandwich with slaw, onions and mustard. I dare you to try it. How do you all make the livermush so crispy. I can't do that at home without burning it.“

“Customer service and food 10/10 recommend this location, from the main guy and the two ladies that have been there forever I wish I knew their names but they are beyond sweet and deserve a raise for going above and beyond to satisfy their customers! Hats off to yall <3“

“Me and my Fiancé ordered online today at about 5:30ish and took it home. Lemme tell you. They know how to make a sub. A lot of subways just slap everything together and don't put an effort but they did for sure. I put extra pickles and they delivered. The sub was amazing. The veggies were fresh everything tasted great. Best subway around hands down. We will definitely be returning!!!!“

“The food is good not great and the service is ok. The employees are not rude, but just seemed to be disinterested. The dining room looked clean, but the tables and chairs seem well-worn and in need of replacement. The past 3 times we have stopped there we have sat at a table that was wobbly.“

“This is a typical Jimmy John's. Someone buys a franchise and puts a couple of kids in charge of running it. Sometimes you get good service, fresh bread and a good, well made sandwich, sometimes you don't. The best time to go to a Jimmy John's is when they first open and the corporate crew is on site running the store. Then you will get a reliably good sandwich. I have been to this new store more than a half dozen times and though I ordered the same sandwich the same way, it has never been the same twice. And since I have gone in the late afternoon and evening, more times than not my bread is stale. As I said, this store seems no different than any Jimmy John's I have been to. Like franchise pizza, it's all about the money. Jimmy John's has one of the best sandwiches for fast take out when done right, and that usually requires the owner to be working behind the counter and not some minimum wage youngsters who would rather be somewhere else.“

“I've Been Getting Subs,At Sub Station II,For Decades. If I'm "Across Town",I'll Stop In At The Location On Hwy 64-70. “Charley’s is probably the highlight of Valley Hills Mall! The staff were courteous and fun to order with, the food was incredibly hot and fresh! My wife insisted on trying the wings and I’m so glad we did. I am not a wing guy but these are my new go too for delicious crispy and moist wings when the craving strikes! Ivonne knows how to sauce ‘em too!“

“Last week there was a mistake on my delivery order. I reached out and Bruno (owner) immediately took action. He remade my breakfast wrap and personally delivered it to me. We are all human and make mistakes, but Im a firm believer it’s how you handle the mistakes thats leave the impression on a customer. Please support our local businesses, especially Cafe Gouda!“

“This is the best Subway around, these other reviews are way off. I’m even going to add a picture. Every single time I order here the subs are perfect. Not messy, not skimpy on the meat, fresh, fast. The usual guy that works here makes them the best.“

“We went there late evening and the employees were nice and efficient. The Big Kahuna chicken sub on wheat bread was excellent. My husband and I shared a Giant size and it was enough for the two of us. For all the mixed reviews this place gets, I was surprised because everything was very good.“

“I visited this location on 11/3/2025 at approximately 6:30 PM. The three young people working were some of the most polite and friendly young people I have encountered in quite a while. I am always happy with the food at this Subway location, and these three individuals will make me visit again sooner rather than later!“

“I always get well-made sandwiches "Tim's Way" and friendly service. At times, they can be really busy, but other than that, I have no complaints. I eat here at least 15 times a month.“

“Food was fresh and made efficiently and correctly. There was a very sweet and kind lady that was working alone. She was fast enough to keep up with the surge of customers that suddenly came in behind me though. Everything on the sandwich line looked and tasted fresh especially the Italian bread we chose.“
