“The Boxcar Grille is a staple in the Claremont community and in Catawba County. The food is good. The best part is the salad bar. The service is decent. You may have to wait a little bit. But the wait staff is always nice. The atmosphere is top notch, and they have remodeled somethings which has given it a fresh look.”

“I grew up in a small town and there was a diner run by a Dad and Mom and the kids. This was that diner. It consists of: give your order, grab your drinks, retrieve your meal when announced and bus your table. I loved it. The folks were kind and willing to tell me the history of a family run business since 1932. And my breakfast, heaped with goodness, for under $10. It all screams: welcome home.”

“Gail was wonderful. She was friendly and always made sure we had what we needed. There's three pool tables. Even though I didn't order any food, the price is reasonable. Three dollars a bottle of beer is pretty cheap. Also, have tap beer where they rotate out to different brand depending on the days. Overall, we had a great time.”

“My husband always wants brunch and orders the VERY same omelette however if the manager is cooking don’t get it!! He makes it tiny and hardly any hashbrowns with it. If this happens again we won’t go back. ALL of the waitresses are very nice but they are concerned about this too because of complaints.”

“I hate to leave anything other than a 5 because I love subway but I was really hungry and got a sub for me and one for my husband. I got to work starving and realized the bun was very hard and burned. its a shame because she made the sub beautifully and just how I liked it. I normally get my subs in Newton because the bread is always perfect and made to my liking. I hope this helps the Claremont location to watch out and not serve burnt or reheated old bread.”

“My first time here on Wednesday. I heard so many good reviews about this place and they were all true. It was a bustling restaurant and reminded me of home. I ordered the scramble but I had my eggs fried. It was flavorful, perfectly presented, and enough for a to-go box. I was by myself and yet, my server did not neglect my coffee cup amid the full house. I will always want to return for the tasty breakfast and the warm atmosphere.”

I can't even go a month without visiting this place. They even have seasonal menus, so drop by when your favorite holiday is rolling around the corner. The people are HEAVENLY. They treat you like family, they treat you like you belong in their store. “Small nice place to get fresh burger or chicken sandwich. Everything was great. Staff were fantastic, food was excellent, and place was extremely clean. I could see them back there cleaning after they cooked our food since they were not too busy at the time. Always great to see a small business taking pride in what they do and I have to say even the small stuff like the cleaning doesn’t go unnoticed. Great job. If I am in the area again I will be back. So far weve had the shrimpura appetizer, spicy garlic noodles, pho tacos, and the shrimpura bowl.I love that they have a new "featured" item each week for when you're in the mood for something different.
