Highland Avenue Restaurant

By far one of the best meals I've had and amazing service! Definitely recommend!

We went there for my fiancee's birthday and everything was great! The food was beyond amazing, the staff was incredible, and the atmosphere was just perfect! They were so friendly and I couldn't believe how much attention they pay to the little things. Go eat there... you will not be disappointed!

The changes that have been made to the menu are wonderful!! A few more small plates or appetizers would be welcomed!! The only downfall on our last visit was the cocktails! They were not good. We ordered a Rusty Gear, a Whiskey Sour and a Gin Gimlet. The Rusty Gear and Whiskey Sour were not the same as we had before at Highland, and the Gimlet was so sour, I couldn't drink it without Sweet 'n Low!!l This problem was the same at Cafe Rule, but has been fixed. Highland needs to initiate the same fix. Otherwise, everything was fantastic!!!

I love the ambiance and service at this restaurant, but I never thing the food is worth the cost. The presentation is always beautiful, but I am always disappointed by the flavor and some of the ingredient choices.

Our service was slow. When our meals came they were cold and had to be sent back. One quest ordered duck and it was not cooked through. This is the second time that we have gone to Highland Avenue and both times were disappointing.

It's an inviting presence but the food is inconsistent. Meats were undercooked. It's an eclectic and interesting menu in a great setting but execution needs to be improved to be the type of restaurant it aspires to. We will come back to see if it can achieve greatness

The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. The food was good but not great. My filet was a bit under cooked. I do think many of the dishes were creative, but some of the ingredients were a bit out there for my tastes.

We went on Valentine's Day as first timers. Everything, and I mean everything was beyond our expectations. It was pricey, but honestly not that much more than some of the top tier chain restaurants. We will definitely be back!

We went for Valentine's Day meal and I was really disappointed with the food, especially for the price. The lemongrass chicken dish was not good, the flavors were bland and didn't go together and the chicken was overcooked and dry. The appetizer cheese and meat plate was only ok. All of the meats were way too salty as well as the crackers. So salty that we drank several glasses of water. My boyfriend got the salmon dish, and it was ok but not great. We spent $175 on a subpar meal so it was very disappointing. I really hoped to have made this a special evening but we both agreed we probably would have enjoyed something else better and would not go their in the future.

This place is so beautiful! Food and service was phenomenal!

Great menu options and very tasteful selection of different wines. Love the classy laid back atmosphere.

Highland is one of our go to places to eat. This past Friday, was an exception, though. I don't know if it was because of Queens Feast or the large parties that they had, but the entire staff seemed overwhelmed. Two of our three drinks arrived in a timely manner, but the third did not arrive until the appetizers came. The drinks were really good, as well as the appetizers. We had not finished our appetizers when our entrees arrived! Poor timing,for which our waitperson took credit. The braised chicken on the Queens Feast menu was just OK, nothing spectacular. Our other entree was a burger which arrived at the table RAW, and I mean raw!! By the time anyone checked to see how our dinner was, it was too late to send it back. The manager was nice enough to give us credit for it on our bill. The desserts, rice pudding, and green tea ice cream, were just okay. The rice pudding was served cold from an ice cream scoop! The Queens Feast menu was not very appealing! Highland usually does better than this!!

A great experience, and I can totally see why they won Best Restaurant of Hickory in 2018. We will most assuredly be back!

We did our Christmas party in the private room. Food was amazing and the service was excellent! Great atmosphere and perfect for our event. We got a great group photo in front of the Christmas tree.

Best Food in town. Every time I have been, the food, wait staff and atmosphere is top notch. My favorite place to eat in the area.
