Rancho Viejo Mexican Grill

My mother in law and her boyfriend brought my husband and I here right after we got married 😂 so, I may be biased because now it holds a special place in my heart. But, the food was good and the service was fast. I really had no complaints. They have a kids menu so my daughter was able to get her normal chicken and fries.

The food was okay, for it being a Yankee restaurant. Not true Mexican, but it gets the job done. The Salmon tacos were rather dry, and had very little flavor.

dont eat here if you have any food allergies! waitstaff very rudely took an order with specific clarification of a deathly allergy of shellfish and still served the plate with the shellfish. we returned it but it was most definitely the same plate of food with the shellfish just taken off. had to take a trip to the emergency room.

Dominique was definitely a 5 ⭐ server, the full professional package all should have.
I have a lot of positives in their review I'll cover.
The style of the dining area is perfect, Top to bottom, very clean. Dishes complimented placement of Artistic,Flavorful Food.
Highly recommended restaurant to dine at with anyone or on your own.

It seemed like our server was distracted but there were very few people in the restaurant. She got better at the end and the food Was very delicious. Pricing was fair.

Tried a steak at a Mexican restaurant, my fault! It was delicious, but the portion size was very small for 24 dollars! Overall, the food was great, but my drink tasted like a watered-down sugary drink instead of a Long Island ? Iced Tea! The waitress was dismal at best, no drink refills at all, always had to ask a few times for anything you needed before she would remember to bring it, and we arrived before the dinner rush crowd! It was very disappointing due to all of this, I had my daughter, my 4 and 8 year old granddaughter's, and my wife there to enjoy a great dining experience! It had been a few years since I was last there and now I remember why! My bill was over 110.00 dollars, and I still tipped 15%. Maybe I'll try the again in a few years, probably not! Lol.

Among several Mexican eateries in the Hickory area, Rancho Viejo is the best. There's an added element to the flavors in their food. Fresh salsa bar is excellent! Aros Con Pollo is a favorite!!

Well, where do I start..... I moved here from California. I've experienced so many mexican restaurants in my life, in California, that "mexican" food here in North Carolina is not good at all! My friend ordered the Chili Relleno, and they didn't have a good cheese inside them. She said it was Velveeta cheese, and then they covered the relleno with another but different white cheese sauce! And ONLY 1 on her plate. My husband and I got rice with chicken that I thought was good, BUT I think the problem is these old white people want a simpler tasting dish, I don't know, but it wasn't great.
