Excellent food & service. Try the bang bang shrimp!

We are never ones to leave reviews but after such a terrible experience I feel the need to. Having served at multiple different types of restaurants, including 2 sushi/Japanese restaurants I don’t think I’ve ever had such bad service before. The server (who’s name I couldn’t even tell you because she didn’t bother telling us) was extremely rude, lacked any sense of urgency, and overall has made it to where we will no longer come here, she needs some serious retraining or something else. We arrived around 530, so before rush, yet we didn’t get our food until 630 while a 6 top who was sat at-least 20 minutes after us was served, ate and cashed out by the time we got our check finally (I asked for my check as we were finally getting our food, 20 minutes after our sushi rolls were delivered and cold from waiting for the rest). We got 2 rolls and 2 hibachi entrees. Not a big order. The owner or I assume head chef? Not sure is a very nice man and I’m sure he was very busy but the fact of the matter is, teach your servers how to be the slightest bit friendly and maybe customers wouldn’t mind waiting over an hour to get their food.

Can’t get waited one there to busy talking and rolling silverware. Will not go back ! Waited 10 minutes and no one even showed us any attitude.

This is the BEST sushi in Hickory. Have been coming here for years. They have a drive thru and on weekend evenings the line will be LONG. That’s how you know it’s good.

Prices are high ($75 for three adults and a child), portion sizes are small, and the hibachi vegetables were soggy carrots and a ton of mushrooms- no peppers, onions, broccoli, etc. We ordered four entrees, received two sets of chopsticks and three fortune cookies.
We love Sakura. We know the owners. Awesome Japanese Food in Hickory and surrounding areas. A whole lot better than the place near Food Lion in Conover. Better than the Oriental Place next to Bojangles on Springs Rd. They're Low Carb is awesome, fried Chicken Spring Rolls are awesome ?.

I have been here twice in a week and so far I am not regretting it. I came from Florida two years ago and since I been here I barely ate sushi. I went from eating sushi or other Japanese food choices 2-3x week to only eating it once every 6-8 months (maybe a year). Sushi has been nothing like home here which I found weird. After trying three restaurants and being disappointed I was ready to give up. But I remember my past coworkers who is a past worker here stated that she worked here and the food was phenomenal. Guess what? It is and I am so happy I have tried them. They definitely have a loyal customer. Trust me I am so loyal to Japanese restaurants that I love. I DON’T go anywhere else lol

Great sushi stop in Hickory! The staff are always welcoming and friendly, and their culinary presentation never lacks. If you're a spicy mayo lover, theirs packs a kick as they make it with their chili oil. All in all a wonderful sushi stop and family friendly environment.
Kid-friendliness: The music isn't too loud, there's good selection of rice and teriyaki for non sushi eaters. They have tables as well as booths, strollers can fit without too much hassle.
