Waited right around 30 minutes for a mobile order! Unfriendly service as well with no apology for the extremely long wait for one coffee drink!!!
I come by kinda often to this location. It's always busy and they seem understaffed. Everyone is usually busting their buts but there is a couple people I see that will just watch the others as they are drowning and not help. Very nice and friendly though. Other customers here are straight up crazy and makes me embarrassed to be one. While waiting the other day I overheard a lady talking about how she lies and purposely causes issues at this store for free stuff and because she doesn't like the staff variety(she actually used a lot worse words). I've also watched people not listen to a word the workers are saying and just flip out over nothing and yell at them like they have control over the prices or rules they have to follow. Some guy the other day said to his buddy they were gonna follow out an employee and hit them with their car if they wanted a break that badly. The worker had been making drinks nonstop for like the whole 6hrs I had been working in the corner. Like what the heck is wrong with some of y'all grown adults acting like coffee is the end of the world. Or even you can't use your eyes and critical thinking and see that the drive thru is wrapped around the building so it's probably gonna be a wait or if the app says 30 mins like it's done to me it's gonna be 30 mins. One customer was harassing an employee to turn off online ordering and when he told her they can't without approval because they'd get fired she said they all should be fired then and tried to grab their tablet things they use or whatever it is. I work in food service too so I really get the struggle, the crazy ones all come out at starbucks and will say some of the most heinous crap and they're expected to smile and nod at it. I hope I see some of these customers at my work and they'll see how no one else actually tolerates this. Like some people have actual issues in their life that they work through like adults instead of flipping out on retail workers.

I honestly have been having such a bad experience here. And never had any problem with Starbucks else where. They usually have the best customer service. But multiple times they don't offer trays, straws. And this happened multiple times with my cups not filled. This time however I asked the guy why my cup is not full when I paid for it, he said he can add more ice. I wish that somethings can be done and changed.

Waited 30 mins for a cappuccino and caramel macchiato. Early morning is rush hour, not a problem. But staff end up chatting instead of finishing the orders

Waited 15 minutes for a drink, currently at this very moment, I have ordered 13 minutes ago and the four workers still have not made it. Someone in fact got their drink first before I did and they ordered after me.

Got mad at me when I told them they forgot our cake pop and rolled his or its eyes at me. Then had the audacity to ask if we added to our mobile order at the drive thru. Uh no Richard, we didn’t. Look at the screen. We then waited for an eternity for our order and it still wasn’t ready well past the time stated the app. These employees are rude and slow.

the drinks are always nice here, but consistently employees are rude. i came in today for a drink with my boyfriend today, and we ordered separately but right behind each other. i redeemed my birthday drink, he got a venti pumpkin spice latte, and then we sat down to wait.
the line was wrapped around the building, and people were waiting around in the dining room. my boyfriend saw the screens and saw that someone was at the window for like 5 minutes and someone was at the speaker for 3 minutes. i've worked fast food and understand a rush, but the employees were leisurely taking their time. i would have been much more understanding if they were obviously trying their best to get these orders out. the only people that looked like they were actually working was the man on drive thru window and the lady on dine in register with long dark hair. we ended up getting our drinks AFTER multiple people who came in before us and waited for longer than us.
someone came up and asked an employee, riley, how many drinks were ahead of hers. they told her that there were 4 drinks ahead of hers, and about 20 minutes wait. after the woman said thank you and sat back down (without making a fuss), they turned and shook their head and started complaining and looked visibly annoyed while talking to another person who was on the bar. this other person left a drink half made sitting on the bar and then went to talk, seemingly just joking around before she went back to finish the drink a few minutes later.
They also just left a doordash order to sit there because they wouldn't bag it, again just because of talking.

Waited in line almost 30 minutes. Of course the way the drive thru is set up once you are in line you can’t get out. Got to the window as waited almost five more minutes for our drinks. No sorry for the wait at all. People inside appeared to be waiting just as long. This is the slowest Starbucks I have ever been to. I wanted to give them a second chance and they disappointed again. Won’t be back.

We waited 25 mins in line with 4 people ahead of us and they gave us wrong drinks! This is second time we tried this store and both tomes we waited over 25 mins .

I am deeply disappointed by the consistently poor service at the Starbucks at 2251 US Hwy 70 SE, Hickory, NC 28602. As a longtime customer, I expect better from your brand. On August 31, 2025, at approximately 8:00 AM, I waited 20 minutes for a mobile order, while in-store customers were served first. This is a recurring issue, with online orders often taking 10 to 15 minutes or more. Completed drinks are left on the bar without notification until customers inquire. Staff lack urgency, communication, and friendliness, making the service abysmal. In contrast, the Starbucks at 1186 Lenoir Rhyne Blvd SE in Hickory offers efficient, friendly service, showing the issues at 2251 US Hwy 70 SE are location-specific, likely due to poor management or staffing. Due to these experiences, I will not return to this location, and Starbucks has lost me as a customer there. I will also share my negative experiences with others. I urge Starbucks to address: Excessive mobile order wait times (10-20 minutes).
Prioritizing in-store orders over mobile orders.
Failure to deliver completed drinks promptly.
Lack of staff communication and unfriendly demeanor.
