My wife and I have been going there each year for our anniversary for last 10 years. For first 3 years everything was great but started getting a little less quality each year after. We went Saturday night for our 45th. I ordered the filet. Prices were way up which was expected as everything is now. Portions were noticeably smaller. The caesar salad barely covered the bottom of bowel. The filet was cut horizontally leaving two thin pieces that was very over cooked, dry and no flavor. Waitress gladly took it back and returned shortly apologizing that they had no more filet! That seems to be a management problem to run out of filet on a Saturday night with customers still arriving. If lucky enough to have another anniversary guess we will have to find another place to celebrate.

Was not impressed ! Duke's is soooo much better for the ambiance , atmosphere & food & portion for the price . The food does match the price, 4 scallops on pasta is overpriced , the scallops good but pasta not. The fillet was very small portion with potatoes painted on plate . Just very disappointed. Do not mind paying or food if its good .

I believe you can only get better with honest feedback. My wife and I celebrated her birthday there tonite. The waitress, Brittany couldn’t have done a better job!! We both had the trout with blue crab. The dish itself was delicious but it was BURIED in a creamy sauce. The sauce was good but it takes away from the trout & crab flavors. A lot less sauce would severely improve the dish. The spinach/goat cheese side salad was perfectly proportioned and awesome. We chose the calamari appetizer. Not the best choice. It was heavily breaded, greasy, and over cooked to the point of being inedible…tough, tough, tough! Wed night wine was 50% off…nice surprise! Dinner was good but not close to the caliber we had come to expect from this establishment. I hope this helps them improve…

When we walked in.. the smell was as if we were at a swimming pool.Don't know what that's all about..we thought maybe there was a pill inside somewhere???Sat there 10 minutes before drink order was taken-waiter dancing all around us but skipping usThe 7$ yeast rolls...fyi.. not worth it.. make them yourself..I had the fettuccine with scallops (only 4 scallops come on the dish)As I was eating I bit into something hard... some sand granules made it to my plate...Initially when my plate arrived I thought dang is this an appetizer or a meal??Needless to say.. holes in the tablecloth, cold air blowing up on us so much that we had to slide the table away from the windows.

Such a wonderful experience! From the moment we walked in the door (we didn’t have a reservation) we were cheerfully greeted by Chris and seated at a lovely table by the window. Our server, Brittany greeted us shortly after we were seated and was genuinely interested in making sure we had the best dining experience. The house made yeast rolls were hot, soft and delicious and the salted butter was amazing! My husband and I both had salad, mine Ceasar with crab cakes and his pear with chicken and they were both fresh and delicious. The wine selection is extensive and Chris made a point to stop by and check to make sure we enjoyed our meal and talked about different wines on their menu.Brittany was attentive and we didn’t have to ask her for anything. We were too full for dessert and the selections sounded amazing! The historic building is beautifully decorated and maintained and the bathroom was spotless! The Vintage House is about an hour away from our home and definitely worth the drive.Thank you Chris, Brittany, Chef and all of the staff for a wonderful experience. We will be back and highly recommend.

food good, but menu offered joyce farms duck breast at $48. received 2 slices of duck. quite misleading. If return would know to ask for details that should not have to be investigated.

We came in on Friday evening, Feb 16 to celebrate a late Valentine date and our waitress was sweet and attentive. Our drinks, appetizers and salads came our quickly but unfortunately the entree came out 1 hr 40 minutes later. We understand things can get backed up, but this was extreme and at one point, considered leaving. Our waitress did take off the ravioli appetizer which was nice, but because of this lengthy wait to get our meal, we most likely would not return. We've been dining out for 40+years and never have had to wait that long for a meal.

We were celebrating a (very) late Valentine's Day when we were there. We had a reservation and got there a little early, so we had a brief wait, but we were given a drink menu. We didn't wait very long before we were seated. The staff were incredible: helpful, kind, patient and friendly. The meal was delicious and worth every penny. The best part was we weren't rushed at all. My wife and I were both amazed at how pleasant the experience was just taking our time, enjoying our food and each other's company without the pressure that can come from overly busy or speedy service. It was overall a fantastic experience. I'd give 10 stars if possible!

We were seated immediately when we arrived on time for our reservation. The wait staff quickly got us started with drinks and our appetizers. The atmosphere, services and food was all amazing

Busy Friday night and the kitchen only has 2 people working in there. Food took forever. Also, 4 of us waiting awkwardly for everyone to be served before eating because it didn't come out at the same time. No seasoning at all on the filet mignon. The only reason we're giving 2 stars is because our server, Tatum, was outstanding!

We have been to Vintage House numerous times. However, tonight we were not pleased at all. For starters, the yeast rolls were burnt and hard. We had asked for a new batch, the waitress replied, "some less crunchy?"... Yes please, as yeast rolls should not be "crunchy" and have never been crunchy in the years past. Not to mention, they were smaller than usual, still 4 rolls for $7. For entrées, we ordered the trout and filet. The trout was mushy and undercooked. The filet was cooked to temperature, but overly charred, along with the broccoli. Everything had a burnt smell and flavor. While attempting to eat the steak and broccoli, all I could taste was the charred pieces that were constantly flaking off. Neither of us could finish our meals. We opted to completely skip dessert here. We realized after we left that Vintage House is under new management. It definitely explains why our dinner was not the typical experience we'd had before. Our waitress was very nice. The restaurant is welcoming and kept clean.

Wanting to treat my bride to a phenomenal Valentine's Day dinner, I made reservations on January 8, 2024 because I knew that they would go quickly. When OpenTable confirmed my reservation for the 14th, I went to website to look at the menu and decide on what I would like to eat. It was on the website and comments on Facebook that I discovered that there was a set menu for Valentine's Day. I started to cancel my reservation and make other plans for the evening. However, having dined at the Vintage House before, I decided to keep those reservations, and I'm so glad that I did. Arriving, we were seated upstairs, which is our favorite area of the restaurant. Our table was adorned with a long stemed red rose, which added to the atmosphere of the evening. Chris was our server and did an extraordinary job. My wife and I made our choices, and a wonderful dining experience began. Each course showed not only the creativity, but also the talent of the staff. My Beef Wellington was outstanding. As a testimony to this, the table that was set about an hour and fifteen minutes after us was informed that the Beef Wellington had sold out. My wife enjoyed her filet, but was not a fan of the Foie Gras. The Foie Gras that was served with her filet had a slightly different texture than the one that I had as an appetizer. She tried my appetizer and enjoyed it. We finished the evening with dessert and coffee as well as Chocolate dipped strawberries. Just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for the most memorable Valentine's Day dining experince that we have ever had. The food and evening was nothing short of perfect.

The salad, maincourses and dessert were excellent. Tasty fresh ingredients, well prepared and nicely presented. Service was excellent. This was the third time of dining at The Vintage House and every visit has met our expectations.

Vintage House has always been one of our favorite dining venues in Hickory, Norrh Carolina. The service and the atmosphere are still top notch. The food was great, but the portions were smaller than in previous visits, but I ordered from the small plate menu. In my opinion the chef(s) added too many of their own preferences to items which were already tremendous. Nevertheless we'll be back.
