I had heard about this place and wanted to give it a try for a while. I ordered the pancakes, ham, and eggs plate. My wife had the breakfast sandwich. Unfortunately this meal was not a great experience. The ham steak was so over cooked and salty. It was so dry I could barely bite through it. What ever they used to mix the pancake batter really needs to be cleaned out. I could taste the mold from improper cleaning. I threw most of my meal away. I wasn't going to write a review on this place, but now my stomach hurts. They have been around for a long time so I know they have a strong community presence, but my experience will have me never returning to this eatery.

Lunch was good. I had the fish, turnip greens and potato salad. My dad got the hamburger steak, greens and yams. We ate lunch for $20. Very reasonably priced. Cash only! The potato salad was extremely sweet, not how I normally like potsto salad but it was good and I ate it. The yams were also overly sweet. The juice was like sweet sugar syrup. My dad is a diabetic and couldn't eat them, way too much sugar. If you like diabetes in a bag, get the yams. The greens were good, kinda tasted like they were from the can. The turnip pieces were cut extremely small and perfectly square like what's in cans. I can't say for sure but they were good. One thing that I did not like was that the lady fixing the plates did not have on gloves. She was handling the corn bread with her bare hands, putting it on the plates. Prior too, she was going through her pocketbook and shuffling papers that were visibly laying on the counter. I didn't eat my cornbread.

Took my mom here recently because she hadn’t been in years. The customer service wasn’t great. The gentleman at the register taking the orders did the best he could, But was too busy flirting with the customers. The younger ladies in the back roll their eyes instead of making the customers feel welcome. The first 2 visits were ok. The third visit the chicken tasted like it was fried in fish grease!! Absolutely disgusting and when you peeled the skin off the chicken the bones were almost black as if the chicken was refried from yesterday. Unfortunately my daughter and mom had already ate some and ended up with food poisoning. So I will NEVER ever go back.

Becky’s & Mary’s Restaurant, located in High Point, offers a delightful selection of dishes. Their fried chicken is exceptional, complemented by flavorful cornbread and a delightful sweet yam. Occasionally, they feature turkey neck and gizzard, which are equally enjoyable for those with a taste for such fare. However, it’s important to note that their cuisine leans toward richness, with generous use of butter and sugar. Opinions on this establishment tend to be divisive: some patrons adore the food, while others find it less appealing. I recommend experiencing it firsthand to form your own judgment. Please be aware that this establishment operates on a cash-only basis and is situated in a neighborhood. While some may perceive the area as questionable, I personally have not encountered any issues during lunchtime visits.

It's in an out of the way place. Traffic construction and Google maps are not synchronized. The atmosphere speaks locals, hard-working people. This is a CASH ONLY establishment. The food was good. It is soul food, so eater beware. They use a lot of butter on everything.Staff was very pleasant and down to earth. It was a clean establishment as well.If there's one complaint that would be, everything is served on paper plates and Styrofoam, that's eat in and to go.Would I go back, yes. I would request "easy on the butter".

Staff was very polite and accommodating. The macaroni and cheese was not the greatest but they were able to replace it with an additional side without a problem. They only accept cash which was an inconvenience so just prepare to have cash

Remember before you come: CASH ONLY. Decent southern food, in my opinion. I'm admittedly not a southern food expert. I've lived in High Point for almost 20 years and never saw the street this place is on. Is near not-good-areas, but this street is somehow nice and clean and good. The place was busy, but the line moved fast. The people were nice and the food was good. I got meatloaf and macaroni and corn bread. My wife got chicken, sweet potatoes, macaroni, corn bread, and sweet tea.

We were told about Becky's and Mary's when we visited High Point in May '23 - we were NOT disappointed. I haven't had fried chicken this good since I was a young girl (a long time ago)! We're visiting the Piedmont area again next week (Jan '24) and are saving room for another visit to Becky's and Mary's ... CAN'T WAIT!
