Loved everything about this place! Brought our dog and sat on the patio next to the cozy fire. Food was outstanding and the staff so friendly and accommodating. We will be back!

Highlands has plenty of great dining spots, but this place truly stood out during our stay. Exceptional food and atmosphere. Absolutely recommend it.

Very hospitable and welcoming. We all got some variation of the 2 meat plate. Everything was good, but the brisket and chopped chicken were especially fantastic on the meat front, while the collards and fried okra were standouts on the sides front. Fried (homemade) pickles and Brunswick stew were also lovely. Enjoyed tasting all the sauces because we like them vinegar forward and wet. Dessert looked good—grabbed a sampler togo with our generous leftovers. Hopefully we’ll make some room to enjoy soon. Lovely experience all around and extra props to a really excellent front of house. It was pleasure to pop in.

Worst food we have ever had from this place. We ordered brisket, pork and chicken as mains. Just not good. Pork and chicken must have been left.over for at least two maybe three days. Both were bone dry and tasteless. We also ordered beans, greens and potato salad. Only the beans had any taste. Something is wrong or has changed but until we hear things are different, we won't be back.

We asked for the daily special on the board and we got a strange look...The service was a little off but the food was good. The dessert wasn’t brought out with the order and I had to go back up and ask for it twice. It wasn’t busy; we went on a Monday night.
After waiting in line for quite awhile and then being told it would be a 30-minute wait for our food, we thought we knew what we were in for. Unfortunately, it was not 30 minutes for our food. It was almost an HOUR and we had to talk to the server and the host several times to even figure out when we would get served. Apparently, they gave our order to someone else! So it was the restaurant's fault and there was no offer to comp even part of our order. When it finally came, the food was delicious, but the long wait made me really wonder if we will be back. We live two hours away and chose this restaurant specifically in advance, so it wasn't a random drive-by choice. I saw that a week ago another reviewer had the same experience, so I will probably wait until I see more positive reviews on the service before deciding to spend $50 for lunch there again.

The meats and the portions were great but, the sides and the sauce still need work. This is in my opinion of course. Palates vary but, I found th beans, the potato salad, and the collards bland. It's also rather pricey for lunch. $50.00. But, I suppose that Bidenomics.
