We had dinner at Spencer’s Tavern last Friday night and the food was absolutely AMAZING!! I had the roasted half chicken and the speedway Expresso martini. Both were perfection!!!

This place absolutely nails the balance between elevated comfort food and thoughtful, made-from-scratch execution.

We started with the asparagus and mushroom tart, which was light, flaky, and perfectly savory — the kind of appetizer that sets the tone immediately and tells you the kitchen knows what it’s doing. Earthy, rich, but not heavy.

The pulled pork poutine was spot on: tender pork, generous toppings, and bold flavor without being sloppy. Exactly what you want when you order poutine, but done with intention rather than excess.

And the bison burger? Outstanding. Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced on a soft bun — hearty without feeling greasy, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients.

They make a great bread pudding in a generous size and then we also got an apple dumpling which could use a little more filling. But the crust is flaky and good on its own.

This is the kind of place you bring people when you want to impress without being pretentious — great for date night, visitors from out of town, or just treating yourself to a memorable meal.

Staying at the Inn and stopped in for cocktails before heading in for the night. The cocktails were outstanding… flavorful and well balance. I had a 🍸dirty martini with Gorgonzola stuffed olives, and my husband — an 🥃 Old Fashioned and a Manhattan. Great music playing, warm ambiance, and an EXCELLENT bartender! Five stars.

If you are not familiar with the area then don't stop there. My husband and I were looking for a place to eat dinner. Walking in not a person in sight. Then after 5 minutes employee saw us and was not inviting at all. Definitely would not return.

The food was not bad, but not the level I expected for the price. It was a little pedestrian. The brussel sprouts were the exception, very good. If it wasn't for the atmosphere, the review would be a 3. Staff was very friendly.

Best neighborhood bar, with stellar staff and delightful food. The best burgers in central NC, maybe the whole darn state!

Monday evening. Waited forever for our food. When we got it, it was cold. Rice was hard like it was old. Asparagus was dried out. This place has a lot of potential but it is not living up to it.

Food & service were great. I had the BLT on toasted sourdough bread. The sandwich comes with a side of French fries that are to die for good. They are fresh with a light crispy outer coating, oh so yummie.
