This is a classic and lively watering hole with great food and awesome staff. The only thing stopping my wife and I from stopping here more often is the fact it is in a different town as we live in Chapel Hill. Every meal we have eaten here we have enjoyed and I personally like the fish tacos and mushroom Swiss burger. They have a nice selection of beer and liquor. Recently I took my wife and sister-in-law here and we all liked our meals very much. There was a little snafu with the bill and it was as much my fault as anybody else's and the management handled the situation better than most would and the issue was resolved in a very friendly manner. The communications on the matter couldn't have been better or more professional. The only issue is that because it is so popular it can be hard to get a table or seat during busy hours. But seriously, hats off to the management and staff including bartender Grant. We like this place, pure and simple and we have met some awesome people here. Can't wait to get back. Cheers

Sooo many good things on the menu but dadgum the chicken sandwich is PERFECT. Amazing rotating beer selection. Service by committee doesn't always work but this place has it down and all servers are top notch. They get busy so get there early if you can. Seriously no notes. One of my favorite places to eat in the Triangle.

I love it here. The beer selection is always fire and the Brewery of the month is one of my favorite things they do! It's also a a Buckeye bar which couldn't make me happier! Drinks are always cold and delicious, the staff is extremely friendly and know a lot of regulars by name, which always makes me wish I lived closer! If you're in Hillsborough, this is a must and a huge mistake if you skip! If you want a snack do not sleep on those fried banana peppers, YUM!!
In from out of town. What a fun place with a menu that changes to keep you coming back. Good beer selection and food . Friendly staff and what I liked they all work together . we had several different wings from dry rub, hoisin , buffalo and bbq , the dragon dance power bowl salad was superb. just a great time

Hands down my husband’s and I favorite place to eat. We go once or twice a week. The wings are amazing, all other food is always good too, the drinks are fantastic, but the staff is what makes this place so great. They are all so welcoming, friendly and always greet us with a smile. .

Wooden Nickel is another primary reason Hillsborough absolutely blows away Raleigh.
The only thing remotely close to it is Players Retreat which sadly is no longer welcoming for us long time locals since they got into NYT. Way better food, beer, and character here.
We try to visit biweekly after hiking Cane Creek Mtn or anywhere west. Every month they replace 3/4 of the taps with their brewery of the month and alot of the food comes from their farm. It gets busy!
The Nickel-Fil-A chicken sandwich is definitely better than the Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich. The pickle brine makes all the difference. I recommend the macaroni salad as good option for a side dish with this sandwich.
