The name says it all. We walked in as soon as they opened.  They were so welcoming to me and my family.  My toddler is a picky eater, but also a little flirt. The owner came over to take our order and entertained my son. Now the food was so good, my picky eating son got second helpings on mashed potatoes. I got the grilled catfish with greens and Mac&Cheese. I'm coming back and it looks like I'll bring my son too!

If you want some amazing delicious soul food do yourself a favor and stop by Carolina Mae’s. I try something different each time I go because every dish is wonderful. The atmosphere is nice and the chef is world class. Don’t sleep on Carolina Mae’s.

Not soul food, takes like cafeteria food. Potato salad runny, greens No seasoning, yams were okay but fish fried hard no seasoning. Cost to much for not to be tasty. Would not recommend, best to cook at home if you know how to cook. Waste of time and money.

I’m disappointed! First, the fried chicken isn’t crunchy at all and has very little flavor. The Mac n cheese was oily and also lacked flavor, and the greens were super dry…and also had zero flavor. I’m in shock tbh. Def won’t be coming back.

Unfortunately, our experience was nothing like the reviews that brought us to Carolina Mae’s.Upon entering it was significantly hot on an already very hot Saturday afternoon. The cook and bar tender/ server were in conversation at the bar and didn’t speak to us until we asked about the seating. We sat ourselves and overlooked the menu. We ordered the whiting meal that came with two sides but in our efforts to make what seemed to be a shareable meal more shareable we decided to add “jumbo shrimp” for an additional $7. Sounds like a good deal until 4 bland small pieces of shrimp arrive. We took the food to go as again, it was unbearably hot inside. The portions were sad and the sides weren’t balanced we got a heap of the fried okra and a sample size of the mac & cheese. The fish was tough to chew and bland in taste. The fries were fresh yet bland in taste. The $7 additional shrimp were pitiful. If the menu stated 4 pieces of shrimp for an additional 7 bucks I simply wouldn’t have ordered it. Lastly, the tartar sauce pictured we didn’t use yet, we could have combined the two and it wouldn’t have been half full. We ultimately seasoned everything to make the food edible.

This is some of the best food you will find in this area. This is real southern soul food. I encourage everyone to go try it.

This place is owned and run by the nicest people! The food didn't blow me away, but the service was fantastic. I can say that I enjoyed the yams. You should try them -unless you're limiting your sugar intake. They're sweet but yummy! I'm definitely going to give them another try or two. I really want to see this place succeed.

What a great surprise! We were looking for some soul food and stumbled upon this restaurant. Food: I tried the Chicken & Waffles plate with a side of Yams. Everything tasted amazing! The waffle even had chunks of strawberries in it (you can request other fruits). My toddler had the Mac N Cheese & Mashed Potatoes. I've never seen this kids at his food so quickly. Of course I tried some and both dishes were great. Service: They had a small staff but provided great customer service. The waitress was very friendly and checked on us often. The cook even came out and interacted with my kiddo. Also the food came out pretty quickly and you and tell it was made to order. Environment: although the restaurant is a little on the small side, they provide plenty of seating. They offer booth/table combos, bar seating, and a few patio tables. While everything was pretty clean, they could be more attentive to the floors and maybe consider some small renovations. We'll definitely be back again.

Ordered through DoorDash very late. Close to closing and was satisfied! The fried chicken was seasoned really well. Greens and Mac n cheese were good. Greens had a little bit more salt than I’d like but I’d still eat them again lol They were good. You can tell I had the last of the Mac n cheese since it was late so it wasn’t that fresh but still really good. They don’t have high chairs/booster seats for kids so I probably won’t be going in to eat any time soon ( I have a toddler) but I’m sure I’ll be ordering again through DoorDash!
