Fajitas with just salt is what the waiter said but couldn’t even taste that! When we asked it to be remade was told it would be the same! Salsa barely more than blended tomatoes! No heat no flavor! The only thing that makes it better than Taco Bell is alcohol and Cheri-queso! Do not recommend!!!

Place was nice, food was great. Our server was really great too. Only issue is when we walked in, we were left standing there for a few minutes while staff standing around just kind of looked at us. Granted maybe their English wasn’t the best but a simple “hey, one second” would’ve been nice instead of just staring at us while we waited to be seated. I think maybe the owner(s) should consider finding more staff, they seemed to be low on people.

I placed a to-go order for chicken soup. It was delicious, although the avocado should be served on the side so it doesn't get mushy. Also a lime wedge would've been nice. My main comment, tho, is that a large soda costs $5, which considering a container of soup was $10, is pretty pricey. With tax and the to-go fee, lunch was more than $16.

The food is absolutely delicious. The staff is wonderful. Our waitress couldn't have been more friendly or more attentive. The outstanding food is by far the best Mexican food we've had in Jacksonville, NC and some of the best we've had anywhere we've traveled. The shredded chicken tacos were juicy when many restaurants serve dry chicken tacos. The California burrito is the only legit Cali burrito I've had outside of LA. My wife's burrito supreme was delicious, just seaonsed to near perfection. The rice and black beans were so tasty, and such a welcome change from refired beans. Chips were awesome but the salsa was too mild for us, so we asked for a saucer of spicy salsa and put spoonfuls of it into the mild salsa and then it was wonderful too. The restaurant was immaculate, and we saw why after a couple got done eating and left, for their booth was jumped on and scrubbed top to bottom; the effort was impressive. You will not regret eating here. It was about $50 for the wife, two teens, and I, which is so affordable these days. You know you've eaten great food that was seasoned with care and expertise when it leaves a pleasant after taste, and the family talked about the restaurant's food all the way home.

El cerro is my favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is the best and so is the service. Alfredo overheard my son ask if I had any quarters for the gum ball machine and I only had my card. While I was signing my recipe he gave my son quarters to get gum. That made his day, thank you! We will be back!

This is my family's favorite Mexican restaurant. We have several closer to home but will drive the extra 20 minutes to get to this one every time. The staff is so friendly and the food is ALWAYS perfect!
