Service was slow, could not eat the cold home fries, wish I would have ordered a bagel not a hard to eat sandwich.

My husband and I live in Manteo, and made the drive up to Barrier Island Bagels because we have heard they have the best bagels in the area. We always support family owned and operated restaurants.Upon entering the restaurant, not a friendly face or greeting was to be found. My husband ordered a dozen bagels, and requested that two of them be toasted with cream cheese- this was not possible according to their rules, no big deal. We ordered two additional bagels, toasted with cream cheese. My husband gets to the car and realizes that the bagels were missing the cream cheese, goes back in and asks for them to put cream cheese. Ava treated my husband with the extreme disrespect and continued to argue about whether or not he asked for the two bagels to have cream cheese. With a nasty attitude she finally agreed to take the bagels to the kitchen where cream cheese was added to the bagels. The kitchen person then slammed the bagels on to window, and they were handed back to my husband by Meredith. My husband asked her to verify if he had paid for the cream cheese or not, she would not, and told him not to worry about it with again a nasty attitude. He offered to pay for it if it had not already been done. The whole exchange made us not want to ever come back to this establishment. We’ve never had this level of treatment before in this area, and we’re sad to say we don’t feel comfortable recommending this place to anyone. If the owner could see how these two employees treated him I can’t imagine they keep their jobs. We spent $47.17 on bagels to eat and take home, including a tip for nasty attitudes. This was a very disappointing experience.

First…bagels and sandwiches are fantastic. Dined in one morning with our kids and they were great with them and food was quick and tasted amazing. Went back on our way out of town and got sandwiches to go….opened the sandwiches an hour down the road and sadly HALF of the toppings were missing on both sandwiches. Only meat was on them (thank God or my hubby would have turned around 😅). No cheese, no lettuce, no tomato, no onion (charged extra for….) When messaging the company to let them know of their mistake they did not respond (but I can see read my message). Poor customer service from that standpoint. Would not recommend if you get half the ingredients, charged more for toppings which are not on and the price of the sandwich.

we love sitting at the bar when it's just 2 of us. Quick service even with a packed house!To many flavors to choose from and full breakfast menu jic you aren't down for a bagel!

Best bagels on the OBX! Skip that other bagel place on the northern beaches.

The Sriracha everything and onion bagels are awesome. I got the "Owner Approved" bagel sandwich. Delicious!

Gets crowded fast, prepare to wait on weekends. Just a testament to how good they are!

Are you kidding me with these delicious bagel sandwiches????? ??? Rosemary bagel with sausage egg and cheese was delightful!

Best Bagels, hands-down.

Parking: There is a better parking lot, ie: less crowded and easier to get in and out of around the back of the building. You have to turn at the traffic light and then make your first right down a small road, instead of directly off the main road to get there. The front and back parking lots do not connect.
