We visited the area for 6 days and ate at a different place every day. This place isn't fancy, but very clean and the food was great. It feels nostalgic and the management pays attention to detail. This is a must if you've never been.

By far the best hot dog I have ever had. The service was very polite and friendly. We will make this a must do on our next visit to the Outer Banks. One quick note the sign says they are open Wednesday -Saturday, we were disappointed last Wednesday when we arrived they were not open?

Capt'n Franks Hot Dogs is a MUST! A+++, 5 Stars, 10/10!! My wife and I came across Capt'n Franks during our first trip to OBX and it instantly became a favorite. It's conveniently located off MP 4.5 Croatan Hwy and offers ample parking spaces nearby. The service is phenomenal - fast and friendly. The menu features a good number of options, so there's surely something for everyone. My personal favorite was the Junkyard Dog (the works, 8 toppings) and the Capt'n's Foot Long - fresh ingredients, prepared to perfection and loaded with flavor! I recommend getting the Cheese Fries too - they are delicious! Can't wait to make Capt'n Franks our first stop next time we are in the area!

This place is an awesome hot dog joint. We had the Chicago dog and chili cheese dog and my favorite was the one with sauerkraut. The fries are awesome and the three of us ate for 26.00 can't beat it.

Best Hot dog in OBX. Awesome customer service. Always very busy but always very fast service. Nice and clean with a great atmosphere for a hot dog joint that has so much more variety than just dogs. Franks also serves beer. I would highly recommend Franks for so many reasons !!

I was working at the Outer Banks today at 2 clients sits. Saw the location on my way from one to the other and was glad to see something besides seafood. I had already gotten myself ready for a good hotdog. So once finished I stopped by, Not too busy , close to closing, (1/2 hour), I asked if the chilli cheese dogs were just that. Was told yes. Ordered 2 with a drink to go, then when paying the device (with no option) was indicating a tip. So I did the least amount since this was a counter order and nothing special. I chose to eat in my van as I do not like sitting in a place alone eating. They were both in individual styro containers. The first one was ok, I hate that they used liquid cheese. (sucks). The chilli was ok, but the hot dog was tough. I then opened the 2nd one which looked like someone had held onto it for dear life as it was compressed with the indention's of the fingers all along the food. I took one bite and it tasted awful. I do not know what is was, but is was bad. Was going to go back inside but this close to closing and my first time didn't feel like it was worth the trouble. Don't know if it was end of day product or just their usual. Honestly get better hotdogs off the griller at a Speedway.
