Absolutely the best selection and quality and service. Love to help out Family Businesses whenever possible. Christina and Bob keep this place running like a well oiled machine! Everyone is so pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend shopping here! Fish is Brain Food! Eat more Fish-People!!!!!!
Great place to purchase seafood!
My family has been buying form Carawans for decades now. Not only do they have the best in local seafood, but the best people to help with a recipe suggestion, cooking times, and tricks of the trade! I cant imagine a beach trip without them!
Great prices and great people. Nice selection and a down home atmosphere.
Tourist Trap!! Locals know not to buy here. Locals go to Steamers or Billy’s. Tourist don’t know they are being lied to and over charged. When my friend asked a simple question he was talked down to as if he knew nothing about fish. Just so happens he’s a commercial fisherman. We walked away and called an OBX local who directed us to the real thing. Save your money and taste buds by going to Steamers or Billy’s.
It took ten seconds from walking in at this place to know we should not shop here. We could smell that the fish wasn't very fresh and what was on the counters was cut messily. You could get better quality fish at the Harris Teeter directly behind this shop. When we asked the cashier what species the salmon was, he claimed it was "wild caught and farm raised," which is not possible and not an answer to the question asked.
He went to the back to ask another staffer for help.
This second staffer, when asked what species the fish was, told us that the salmon was Scottish and told us it was farm-raised and then described the process of seining, which is a method of catching wild fish. Still not an answer to the question asked, and still wrong.
The fish was clearly dyed coho or sockeye salmon, priced as if it was king. The salesperson persisted in his misinformation after being informed that a member of our group was a professional salmon fisherman, which showed a lack of respect and knowledge. He showed us a plastic fish tag as if that explained everything we wanted to know.
This place is obviously a tourist trap and you should not shop here.
We ended up buying from Billy's Seafood at 1341 Colington Rd, where a knowledgeable fishmonger directed us to truly fresh, local fish after getting a good idea of what we were looking for. I'll be returning to them the next time I'm in the Outer Banks.
Good local seafood at a good price. They will even steam it for you. Everything is on display so you can see what your getting. Kids like going in there and picking out what they want. Besides seafood, they have a small shop with various foods, gifts, and other stuff.
Fresh seafood market and vegetables average prices for the area. You can fulfill most of your seafood and produce needs here.
Always our favorite place to get seafood when we visit the Outer Banks!
Nice selection. Always fresh.

We got 2lb of shrimp and crabs each steamed. The crab was so salty. We had no crab taste but salt. I feel like they have been boiled instead of steamed. There is no other way to explain salt in crab.
Neat, simple, fresh, convenient location on land side.
Staff was nice and friendly. No flare store.
Fresh and friendly
We always plan a big seafood dinner and this was a great stop while we stayed in Kitty Hawk.
Freshest seafood! I always stop here first once I cross over the bridge.
