My girlfriend and I were craving some good pizza but all places were either closed or opened way later in the day, so we decided to stop by Max’s.To start off, the atmosphere was great. We came around 3PM ish on a Thursday and there was only one other person in the restaurant, so it was very casual. We were sat and served within 15 minutes with delicious wings, pizza & beer.The service was great, and the pizza was exceptional. I am from the PA/NY area and finding good pizza in general is tough, but this exceeded expectations.If you are looking for a very affordable, fast dining experience with excellent food while on vacation in OBX, this is the spot for you!

My wife and I found this Italian restaurant on Google Maps while vacationing in Outer Banks. We ordered from the car online and were given a wait time of 15 minutes. I ordered the lasagna which came with bread and a dinner salad. My wife ordered a medium sized stromboli, which was the size of a football! She was able to eat one of the cut sections. I enjoyed the rest of the stromboli for the next couple of days. It's that big! The food was delicious and the portions were perfect. I could tell from my first mouthful that the food was great. I highly recommend Max's Italian Restaurant. Believe the hype!
Pizza was really good, one of the best pizzas down here. I’ve tried several that were disappointingly bad so it was a relief to get not only a good pizza, but a great one. Sauce is tasty, cheese is perfect.

Found this place driving by after looking for pizza places on a Tuesday here in Kill Devil Hills. Apparently almost all pizza places close at 8pm or are closed in this area on Tuesday’s. Weird I know, but that’s what I found. After looking for a local pizza place for dinner for a while, gave up, and was heading to a Subway that was open, we happened across this gem in the same plaza as the Subway!! Was very glad that they were open. The food was great, really enjoyed it, and much appreciated not having to settle for something else. Got 3 medium Strombolis, and an order of garlic cheesy bread. Ended up being a lot since 3 of us could have shared the 1 Stromboli, but oh well leftovers to look forward to. Everything was hot, fresh, made in house and to order, and tasted great! Their marinara sauce has a good consistency with good flavor, not runny, and not a paste, but well made. If you’re looking for pizza type stuff in the area I would recommend giving them a try!

We got take-out here and were very pleased with the amount of food we got for the money. The marinara sauce is uncommonly delicious. Very tangy and a little chunky. We got three strombolis & some garlic cheese rolls. They were all excellent. Our only complaint was that the staff were a little rude.

Let's start with service...one other customer was at the restaurant. My husband had to get up to find the server after our food was served to provide (garlic, oregano) for pizza. No drinks were ever refilled. I ordered a ceasar salad. It was drenched in a "homemade dressing" it was horrible (vinegar/sour) I told the waitress I did not like it. She went on to lecture me saying well this is a REAL ceasar salad we make our dressing. She took it back with an attitude never offered any replacement, she said she could not take it off the bill and that she took a picture of it and showed her manager that I ate some. I was shocked. I took one fork full and never put another in my mouth. I asked to speak to this manager "behind the curtain" but she was not present only by phone so they took it off the bill but made sure to tell me that their policy does not allow this for NEXT time. There will never ever be a next time...stay away from here. The other food I ordered was not very tasty..calamari chewy, chicken parm difficult to cut through. Avoid the headache especially if you are in town visiting like we were. Find another restaurant.
