Newport News store. Wife and I are out on a date night and go to the drive thru for milkshakes. Listening to the voice a guy is taking my order and after mentioning the first item he stops and says is that all. Basically I’m interrupted then a lady takes over so I start the order from scratch and she to interrupts me before I can even finish mentioning the first item so again I start the ordering from scratch and I ask her to let me finish speaking and wouldn’t let me. I did make it known by changing the tone of my voice that I was not happy with her interrupting me. Also they must have done something with their headsets while I was at the order screen because a loud noise came from the ordering screen and now I have pain in my left ear because the noise was too loud. As we proceeded to the window we picked up our milkshakes and paid for them. We were only given straws and no spoons for our milkshakes. Not sure if it was deliberate or if the store was out of stock on spoons but that made our date night less enjoyable since we had to use our straws as spoons on fresh frozen milkshakes. Il still go to cookout but not the Newport News location until the female employee improves her attitude towards customers.

Something has changed here in the past month or so. There seems to be a ton of new people (which is fine) but the quality has changed. All of the drinks I've had the last few times are watered down like they're not being put in the machine correctly or it's more water than actual drink. Also literally the last 3 times I came here, I've observed people coming inside from the drive through saying their orders are wrong. This place used to be my spot but in the past month or two something happened. I don't know what, but y'all fell off BAD 😵💫😱
OLD REVIEW: Most days the customer service is good. Sometimes there might be a one-off but it's nothing significant. The food is fine. They rarely get orders wrong and they've gotten better about seasoning the fries 🙃. But what I REAAAALY ♥️ about this place is how clean they keep it. It still looks brand new. There are two ladies that come to mind when I think about the cleaning. They clean that lobby and bathroom like it's at their house! It seems so minor, but I truly appreciate the care that they and other staff put into the cleaning.
Lastly, all of the managers seem cool, especially the main one (I don't know his name 🤷🏽♀️) but he's the tallest one there if that helps. He is so nice and laid back. He is like ALWAYS there and jumping in to help his staff. I've seen him taking orders inside and outside in the rain. He takes feedback well and seems to care about his team AND customers. That balance is so important. I'm grateful for what they do because I know it gets crazy in there. I've seen the line inside and out 😵💫. Especially late at night.

I go here often with my kids. The food is good and the service is what I expect. Job well done for dine in. I can't speak to the drive through part of the review. The tables could be cleaned more often. I think they do a good job, all thing considered. I don't care for the Oreo shake, but it is something that I normally would like.

Now normally I have no issues with this location, I haven’t been in a while . But my entire meal was ruined today. Wait time was a little longer than normal but that’s not an issue I’ve worked in food services I understand it gets busy . Service was polite once I got to the window. The issue was the quality of my meal which has led me to this disappointing reviews. I bit into my Cajun wrap and a bone literally struck the roof of my mouth … the tenders are supposed to be boneless. I just figured I would carry on with the rest of the meal and throw away the wrap but I bit into my burger a couple of times then looked down and my meat wasn’t well done. So I wasted my money for a meal that I partially ate . Again before this incident no issue but this was highly disappointing for me today.

Half the time you may get a correct order. I don’t want cheese & mustard on my burger and they put cheese & mustard. Even checking with them 3 times at the drive-thru doesn’t help, because they show they don’t care. Speaker system sucks. They talk too fast and take the order too fast. I just visited the Cookout on Reynolda Road, Winston Salem, NC My order was received fresh and quick. I open my box to discover I did not have seasoning on my fries so I asked the young lady (African American with dreads) could I get some seasoning salt (she rolled her eye) she asked for my tray back but I asked could you put it in the packet. She then went to the back to fix the seasoning salt and again when she hand it back rolled her eyes before I could say Thank you she mumbled something and walked away. This customer service is not acceptable and to have an attitude at 11 am in the morning then she should not be working.

Today I visited this place because it was close, I placed my order for a normal hamburger tray with double bites of cheese, the cashier without me asking put my order as a simple hamburger, that is, without lettuce, tomato or onion only a bread with meat! Then the girl at the dispatch window fixed my order but the meat was not grilled, the drink had the typical taste of a beverage machine that has not been properly maintained, the positive difference with other restaurants of this chain is that it has a small space with tables to sit on, I have eaten in many other restaurants of Cook Out and I stay with the one in Louisburg, Durant or Raleigh.

The service was great and fast but the food was definitely super basic. The best thing my family had was the milkshake. I mean you get what you pay for with this particular restaurant. No matter the location. However the staff at the Knightdale location were quick, efficient and friendly! They should be recognized for that!
