We came to Doughton to hike the Bluff Mountain Trail, a family favorite, but the best part of our day was lunch at The Bluffs mid-hike! The blackened trout sandwich was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The service was terrific, too. I hope the construction isn't hurting The Bluffs too much. This restaurant needs to stay!
Our burgers were great but a little overpriced. The staff were outstanding and the service was top notch.

Love visiting The Bluffs. I had a hamburger with fries, followed by cobbler and ice cream. Food was great and Melony was fantastic.

This is my favorite restaurant. The ambiance is just perfect, as are the ham biscuits. I think about this place almost every day.
Great food and service in a very charming atmosphere. Highly recommend the fried chicken, greens, Mac and cheese, and desserts. A must if you’re on the parkway!

My husband and I came here for our first date out without the kids so we were pretty excited to really enjoy a sit down meal we didn’t have to rush through. Ordered the fried chicken with gravy and potatoes and meatloaf plate. My chicken was nearly raw and luckily I noticed the blood in the plate against the mashed potatoes and I did cut into it thinking maybe I was wrong. I reordered a vegetable plate instead. The bowl of pintos were so thick and overcooked you could nearly scoop it all together on one spoon. Potatoes were extremely hot that even after sitting for 5+ minutes they still were too hot to eat so I didn’t get but a couple bites. They weren’t seasoned well so I didn’t choose to continue to try. Cornbread, salad and tea was good. Meatloaf was weirdly flavored and odd consistency. I don’t feel compelled to go back.
Great food. This place is out of the way on the Blue Ridge Parkway Laurel Springs NC.

Very pleasant experience. The hostess and waitress were very friendly and polite. The restaurant was nicely refurbished to look like it had back in the 50’s. The food was good and the surroundings were peaceful. A nice place to eat and enjoy the scenery. Would recommend stopping by for a bite if you’re near the parkway

Great historic building, excellent service, and exceptional food. We arrived 1/2 hour before closing and they treated us like royalty. I would highly recommend.
Very unique place to go and eat while on the parkway! They had great quality food, the blackened trout was top notch, and their brown sugar cinnamon ice cream was also really good.
Make sure to stop by the gift shop next door.

Since The Bluffs re-opened a few years ago, we have tried eating there several times with no great luck. This year, however, they have found their sweet spot. I have eaten there twice recently and have been so pleased. The dumplings were amazing and so was the peach cobbler on my first visit. The second time around, I went with the egg salad on a croissant that I would certainly recommend. My dad was very pleased with his meatloaf while my mom, who is a bit picky, commented about the dumplings, "These are delicious." The great food and nostalgic ambiance, along with the history surrounding The Bluffs, made for a lovely outing. Check there hours before you go. I think it is Thursday through Sunday, 9-4. Although we have not been there for this event, we saw that they have live outdoor entertainment (different each time) from two to four every other Sunday, again, double check me on that. The lady in the gift shop said people bring there chairs and sit out on the lawn in front of the restaurant for the performance. There are outdoor seating/picnic tables if you have a pet. Beer and wine was available.
