What started off as a great restaurant is certainly gone downhill. People seem to be tired and worn out and you don't get the same quality of food or service that you originally got when the place first opened. I understand the limited restaurants in the Southmont area but I can go other places that will at least be nice and the food quality is gone downhill from when they first opened. I understand charging different amounts for cash and credit card because of the credit card fees that I don't have an issue with. I just feel like I'm more of an inconvenience to them here when I visit this place. Because the food's not as good as it used to be I don't have an issue with going somewhere else if your food was outstanding I actually probably would still come regardless of how you treate us. But you're not that good even though you're in the only location 12 mi from town either work on the quality of your food are your customer etiquette skills

It is always a pleasure to dine at Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant in Southmont, NC. It is very clean, the food is delicious, and the waiting staff is very courteous and attentive to your needs. We especially love having Aaron as our waiter. He is the best. We highly recommend dining there.❤️👍👍👍👍

We went on a saturday and the place was nearly deserted which should have clued us on what to expect. Food was too salty and generally not up to Charlotte area standards. It was just not a pleasant experience.

A bit of a mixed bag. First of all, they do not serve beer or margaritas or wine! It is a dry restaurant!

Also, it felt a bit brightly lit to dine in. Coupled with no beer and wine, this makes it a takeout place in my eyes.
With the idea of a takeout place in mind, this becomes a different review entirely. Because they have a drive-through window!

So if this was a sit-down place I would rate it at three, due to no beer and wine and being too brightly lit. But since this is a takeout place and it has a drive-through window, my rating will be a four.

Let’s talk about the food.
It seems the thing to get here are the burritos. The tacos didn’t have much going on. They were just blah. Not a lot of the toppings, maybe some tomatoes and onions. Plus, when I ordered it with a rice and beans (and they put it in the same container) the tacos disintegrated having touched the rice and beans. (Series photo).
But the burritos looked huge, and my husband and son said they tasted very good. I’ve included the burritos with a picture of my hand so you can get a sense of scale.
Bottom line: we live somewhat nearby, and this will be our takeout place for burritos, with the understanding that we can call in and just pick it up in the drive-through. But I would not order the tacos again, nor would I go for a dine-in experience with a brightly lit Dining room and no beer and wine.

Parking: Parking is easy and there is a big lot.

Kid-friendliness: Seems totally fine for kids!

Had lunch on a Monday. Not busy. Service was good. Food was hot and there was plenty. The food was a bit plain with not much seasoning. Good little place for lunch.

The service was unprofessional and not pleasant.
The atmosphere was strange today, we could hear a TV from the work area and no music playing like past visits.
We wondered if there may have been a change in ownership since we last visited.

The food is always good, but it is awful having to come and get the food from these rude people. They are some of the rudest not sure if it’s every employee that works there, but there is one in particular that always takes care of the drive-through and he is so rude. For the high prices, you would expect to get good service, but nope.

Their food is awesome you need to go try it out for yourself , The shrimp cocktail is really good you should also try that too
