BBQ has very little flavor and is mushy. $12/plate and they give you a ton of food. BUT, the potato salad is pickles and potatoes and that’s about all. Fries were okay, but I mean….. they’re fries. It’s hard to mess fries up. My husband and I literally left 3/4 of our food on our plate. Wasn’t even worth bringing it home.

Took my wife there for lunch. We questioned the $12 for such a large portion that we could’ve easily split. The bbq was very bland with NO taste and weird texture. The fries, baked beans and hush puppies were the highlight of the meal. Definitely not a great representation of NC BBQ.

Huge portions. Mediocre chopped BBQ. Flavor almost entirely from the sauce, which is good but doesn't make up for lack of smoke flavor in the meat. Great service from friendly waitresses.

First visit in several years on the way back home to coastal NC. I worked in Lexington NC the bbq capital of the world for many years and like all the bbq restaurants there but Speedy's is my favorite. I especially love their bbq salad with their delicious hushpuppies. We enjoyed the warm atmosphere and the most friendly staff and patrons you can ever meet. Just good old fashioned down home cooking that hasn't changed since 1967 if my old memory remembers correctly 😀 You gotta try it!

I met with family members from Oak Island, NC and they had eaten there many times before they moved to the beach, so we dined here. The food was delicious, enough food for another meal later. Service was excellent and food came out quickly. The place was clean and good atmosphere for BBQ. We will be returning to try some of there other menu items. I definitely recommend it.
