I was really excited about eating here though I was warned about the owner being not too friendly and boy. Let me tell you that’s exactly what I found. It’s a cute little building off on the side of the road, but that’s about where it stops as you walk up. You see the amateur painting of what I assume was supposed to be bricks that I’m guessing his grandchildren painted on the ground, I have been here twice in the past week. I have heard him being rude to customers rude to his staff. I ordered the trout which tasted like it has been gotten from Golden corral my first time I went in to get something last week and the lack of professionalism customer service and respect to his staff and customers made me just leave. I don’t understand why any business like this is operating and Davidson county I hope someone has a better experience. Or he changes his ways other than that, there are far better places to eat with a better staff and definitely better owners

Great food, but why use styrofoam cups? I mean come on guys. You have real utensil and dishware, why not get real glasses too?

We love the humble plate. The food is made of such fresh ingredients and tastes like an excellent home-cooked meal. I got the double crunch chicken with Brussels sprouts and the chicken was cooked perfectly and the Brussels sprouts were delicious.

Had lunch there today and the honey garlic chicken and Brussels sprouts were so delicious. Was in Lexington and just picked a place we weren't familiar with and it sure didn't disappoint. 5 stars from me. Food and staff were great.
I hate to leave this negative review because of how delicious your food may be sometimes. Unfortunately, it’s too inconsistent. Sometimes the Brussels Sprouts are tender, other times the Brussels Sprouts seem barely cooked. However, my number one pet peeve here is the fact that sauces are continuously forgotten to be included with carry-out meals. Half of the time, this is what makes the dish in the first place. As someone who values time & money, I hate to waste it having to drive back simply for a sauce on several occasions.

I got the fajitas. My wife got the nachos,
The fajitas came with three 4-inch corn tortillas, and the meat and veggies were DRY with no seasoning. The nachos weren't vary flavorful either. The service was great! There were only 5 tables in the joint. The menu was on a daily basis, That day it was fajitas or nachos. We did get the spinach and that was the only thing that add a flavor.

TLDR: The food is good humble food. Very limited menu. Local ingredients. Friendly staff.
The Humble Plate lives up to its name. The food was good, simple, humble cooking. This is not the place where you'll get a 5 star flambe filet mignon with whipped potatoes, but you will get a solid, yummy plate of food. We went on a Thursday and I got the Thursday steak fajitas special. My partner got the local hamburger with bacon + kale on the side.
The fajitas: I ordered without onion only because I don't like them and the chef was so kind to come and ask if I was allergic as the side of rice has onion in it as well. I also added a side of sour cream and nacho cheese as they don't normally come with the fajitas. The steak was cubed and cooked medium well to well. It was still moist and not chewy. The green peppers had the perfect amount of bite and char to be delicious. The rice was lacking on salt and a little underdone (a few of the pieces had a little crunch) but mixing in the nacho cheese and all the juice from the peppers and beef made it pretty tasty. Corn tortillas were freshly grilled. 8.5/10
The burger according to my partner was solid but nothing to write home about. The bacon and kale he got on the side was in desperate need of salt and could use a splash of acid (lemon, apple cider vinegar, or red wine vinegar would be awesome). He wished fresh cut fries were an option. 7.9/10
The menu is VERY limited with a new special each day so plan accordingly and look up what's happening each day.
I finished the meal with some chocolate gelato which was great.
The staff was highly attentive and friendly. There were only like 6 tables in the whole place and we were the only 2 eating in which I'm sure helped. There was a steady stream of to go door dash orders though.
Excellent service & high quality food. We had the chicken nachos and a Chicken strawberry & walnut salad... chefs kiss!
I have food allergies (cabbage was in question in salad mix) and they went out of their way to assist me.
ALSO, the food is so fresh! I highly recommend this place!!
My husband and I recently discovered this place. Amazing food with daily specials. They keep to a small menu, but so far, everything has been scrumptious. I recommend pulling up the menu for specials.
