The Famous Rockhouse

I had the turkey club with fries to go. I was starving and could only eat half of the sandwich and all of the freeze. I had trouble fitting the other half into a quart Ziploc bag. If there were any more food on that sandwich I couldn't have got my mouth around it. It was so delicious!

I dropped in for breakfast snd brought my family back for lunch and dinner.
Blackberry, Apple or Forest Berry Pie? I ordered 2 of each to go after eating one for dessert!
The fried chicken was crunchy and juicy!
The green beans tasted better than any I have had in a very long time!
The food for all the meals I had were piping hot when they came out.
I had a few different waitresses and they were all very efficient and had great positive personalities.
I was there on some of the hottest days of the summer and I can't stand the heat but didn't get uncomfortable at all.
The property sits on the corners of three different counties and read the story of the history on the menu... it is very interesting.

Hayden was the sweetest waitress! The livermush was cooked PERFECT and is honestly way better than Neeses! The prices are very fair and the food portions are generous! 🥰 Thank ya'll for the wonderful breakfast!

The pot roast is delicious.
Make sure you save room for the blackberry pie.

Great little find near Linville Falls/Linville Gorge.

We go there to finish with their pies... homemade and delicious!

Someone came up with the idea of ordering a flight of pie(usually several to choose from) ....GENIUS!!!

Food was edible. Service was rude. From the hostess just kind of pointing and grunting, to the the sever’s attitude feeling really “having a bad day”.

The wait for the food was extreme for some sandwiches. Watched another table with a large family get their food, consume it and pay and leave before our sandwiches came if that gives you context.

When the food finally came and we had a kid emergency to use the bathroom they bussed our table and took all of our personal belongings including my purse and my husbands glasses. The place wasn’t even full so it wasn’t like they needed the seats.

We then had to wait for a food remake which it was evident they did NOT rush - again- watching lots of food come out ahead of ours.

Don’t bring kids here.

Clean, friendly staff. Excellent food.

I was there for breakfast- twice, because it was so good! There were all the perfect breakfast foods on the menu,the staff was friendly, and next time I'm in town I'm definitely going back.

What a wonderful mountain restaurant. Breakfast was great. Servers were friendly and attentive, felt like home. And I love that the building literally sits on three counties. Will be back if I'm up that way again.

I never leave reviews but this was an experience that I feel I need to share. To preface I am a server in a very busy restaurant, so I’m no stranger to food service. Our server was very nice, but she took about 10 minutes to take our drink orders and about 5-10 minutes to get us our drinks (party of 4). I would completely understand if the restaurant was busy, but it was not. Once we finally got our orders, it was very disappointing. The menu says lunch comes with either hush puppies or a biscuit; what they don’t tell you is that it comes with a whopping two (2) hush puppies. The green beans were mushy and unseasoned. I’m going to be vague here because I do not want to get the server in trouble; someone in my group ordered something, and our server failed to tell us that the kitchen was out of a crucial ingredient (that was in the name of the menu item) and swapped it out without consulting us. Again, as someone who is a server, this is pretty disappointing. Lastly and most upsettingly, I and someone else in my group are now dealing with food poisoning. I am going to miss work because of this when I really cannot afford to miss work right now. Please do better and take this critique seriously, this place definitely has potential but it was just a very poor experience overall.

Have driven up to eat here on two different occasions. Both times the items I ordered were not available? Why advertise certain items and then not have them available? I realize demand sometimes dictates availability, but both times I visited were at the beginning of the dinner hour.
