Everything about this place was amazing. Ms. Johnell took our order and described everything perfectly. We had the pig wings (bbq chicken wings) and they were some of the best juicy, flavorful wings I’ve ever had. The potato salad AMAZING. The cole slaw AMAZING. The turkey stew was hearty and full of veggies and shredded turkey meat and the gravy was delicious. The turkey bbq and the pork bbq was out of this world. If you want something sweet you HAVE to try the hummingbird cake 10/10. We had banana pudding that compared to none and sweet potato pie. The price for the food makes you feel bad because it’s so affordable and you get a good amount of food with your order. I would advise you to call and order ahead as the wait can be an little long but well worth it.Over all this place is a 10/10 and the service sets it over the top I wish we could give 6 stars. Ms. Johnell was EVERYTHING.Parking: There’s a parking lot right next to the restaurant with at least 15 spots and there’s street parking right in front all for free.

Very good lunch. BBQ is their specialty, and they are known for making their own sauce, which can be bought by the bottle. Hubby had the chicken plate and loved it. I went for the chopped pork, which was good but had more kick than I can handle. I'm a whimp! None the less without bbq sauce, the pork was flavorful and moist. I pared each bite with the cole slaw and ate it ALL. The potato salad and cole slaw were very good, and they included hushpuppies. This was our first time here, and we will go back. They seem to have popular desserts because people ordering were requesting pie. They offer whole chicken too for families. The couple who run it are pleasant and attentive! We asked where Grandpa was, and he popped his head out to say hi. He is a cooking marvel!!!!

My buddy and I went for a hike Medoc Mountain and were famished. We were looking up and down for a good place to eat and our search brought us to Grandpa’s kitchen. We were floored at how good the food was. The BBQ was some of NCs finest and I can honestly say the sweet potato pie was the best I’ve ever had in my life. The serving staff was courteous and friendly and didn’t steer us wrong with their food suggestions. I would highly recommend Grandpas kitchen and plan on going back again and again and again!

Very good BBQ and excellent ribs! Real southern style green beans and potato salad. Slight wait for the food but would definitely eat there again and highly recommend!! The service was great as well, and the staff was very friendly!

If you are willing to go out the way for quality BBQ with a unique experience go ahead and make the trip just call to make sure they are open before you come to far. I have never eaten here and not been satisfied. The PIG WINGS are incredible!!! The restaurant is run by some of the kindest people you will ever meet. The atmosphere is uniquely decorated. You will never find another place quite like it. Has been mentioned in multiple publications and magazines. If you are aficionado of NC BBQ this is a must visit!!!

They furnished the absolute best food for our family reunion. All who attendedreally enjoyed it.
After seeing all of the 4 and 5 star ratings, I feel hesitant about telling my experience with this restaurant...Upon entering, seeing the tables with no sauce or napkins, and no sign that said seat yourself, my wife and I sat in a booth and waited for our server...no server after approx 10 minutes..Wife went up to order...got the food fairly quick...Now get this...First bite of a fry revealed a hot half and a cold half..then I attempted to pick up my BBQ sandwich...my fingers went through the bottom which was cold and wet...I placed the napkin over the food and ask my wife if she was ready to leave...her response was OH YEAH...Nuff said...
