Excellent food. My grandparents are here when this opened. Nice family restaurant. Reasonable prices/ excellent seafood. Nice service. Get their desserts too. Love this place. I have ate here for 44 years. No chain restaurant! Love it! My favorites, popcorn shrimp, Fishcakes, and soft crabs- in season. This is home!

This place has really good food! I had the flounder and shrimp (fried ) with a loaded baked potato and salad! The server was very pleasant and was great!

What a great find for lunch when we were out. Had the fried shrimp lunch special which was delicious and a generous portion size. We had a super nice waitress as well. A very enjoyable experience.

Very disappointing meal, oysters were terrible.

I visited Darrell's for lunch to satisfy my appetite for fried oysters. I only wanted a reasonably sized plate without having a large plate to pay for and waste. The size and price were perfect. Service was great. As with many older established NC restaurants its focus is as an eating establishment. It is very clean and neat and pleasantly decorated but largely without atmosphere unless you are a local and know people to talk to. I was there to get my "oyster-fix" which is pretty much all I was concerned with and I was happily & completely satisfied.

Parking: Plenty of free parking adjacent to the restaurant.

Stopped here for breakfast on the way home from Rodanthe. Definitely worth it. Cornbeef hash was excellent. Sweet potato hot cakes were probably the best I have had. My wife had the sausage gravy with biscuits and they hit the spot as well. Will definitely be returning here during our next vacation to the beautiful outer banks

My partner and I stopped here for lunch because it's been open since 1960!
I bet it's been open this long because it's consistent: not amazing but very very good.

We ordered off of the lunch menu, and I was very glad to get some soft shelled crab!
My meal arrived quickly and hot. The batter on the shrimp and soft shell crab was not overdone at all; it was light and wonderful. It tasted very fresh and not "fishy." It came out fast, further proving that it must not be frozen!
My partner said his flounder wasn't as hot as my meal and his Mac and cheese was more room temp, but everything was very good and worth the price.

Our meal was around $30 and was on par in terms of size as other meals we've had for twice the cost here, so it's a winner for us!

It's obvious they've stayed in business for consistently serving fresh seafood at a fair price, and since we've apparently caught the Manteo bug and are already planning our next trip... We'll be back!
