Very disappointing menu and execution . Shaved onion in the ranch, the pulled pork while covered in sauce it was not enough to reawaken the meat, all that to say the pork was the driest dry that ever dried . The coleslaw was also on the older side. Ultimately what little I was able to eat ended up making me sick. The restaurant was dirty and understaffed and when new staff showed up there was more hanging out (right in front of me at the bar ) and gossiping than there was cleaning all the dirty tables , like every single table was dirty when I got there which is why I had to sit at the bar. Do not recommend .
This place has seriously gone downhill. The inside smells like stale cigarettes, they don't serve beer anymore, the service took forever (there was only one other table seated), the soda was flat, the food was fine but not worth putting up with the smell and poor service.
Waited so long for our food when the restaurant was literally empty. Took SO long to take our order. Food took FOREVER. Again, it was not busy at all. Food was alright. My sliders were dry and had no cheese and the Mac and cheese was trash.
Waitress was extremely rude. Stated they were out of menu items that were, in fact, in stock (next group ordered and got). We should have known when the place was completely empty on a Friday night (Papa Nick's Pizza next door was overflowing). Waitress never came back in the over an hour it took for food. The very pregnant lady in the group after us spilled her water, that we all rushed to help her clean up, as the waitress never stopped scawling enough to move. We will take a hint next time and follow everyone over to Papa Nick's. However, the other worker in the restaurant was working super hard to make up for it. She did everything from hauling ice, drinks, and highchairs from another location. Hopefully that one is recognized for her hard work.
I'm sorry to report that over the past two years Stackhouse has crashed as far as food quality and service. Lunch today took 1.5 hours of which 20 minutes were used to eat.
Such a shame since Mars Hill needs good restaurants.
Hopefully, they will recover.
Great food! As a vegan, I appreciate the veggie burger options as both sliders and a full meal. Service is very family oriented- welcoming place for all members of the community. Seems to be a great spot for university students and families alike. Shoutout to the red head server and the girl with freckles. Both very professional and kind. Owner is a chill guy who genuinely cares for the business! Dinner felt like one big family dinner between us guests and how friendly staff was. If you want a good chat and meal, this place is for you!
Was told this place has good burgers, so we stopped in.
Maybe it was a Perfect Storm thing?
Service- started out with no Ice. There is an Ingles store across the street, but don't bother going to get ice. I'd hate to interrupt the 4 or 5 teenagers running the place from socializing with all their drop in friends. After 35 minutes of no food, no explanation, no drink refills, I realized that the 3 chalkboards behind the bar (not sure why there is a bar, no alcohol served here) were actually a note from the cook.
We couldn't wait as we had an appointment elsewhere, so 40 minutes after we ordered, teeny bopper announced that our meals were fixing to be ready and were we sure we didn't want to dine in as opposed to having to get it go?
If we didn't have to ask for it to be boxed up to take with us, We might have got the option of condiments or even eating utensils. Tea and water to go would have been a nice touch as well.
Burned bun, dry pork, greasy almost warm fries. No ketchup. Spring mix salad was romaine, a couple of veggies and as they were together in the to go box, that must qualify as mix.
Service? Can't judge the quality as we didn't receive enough to quantify.
Food? Sucked.
Atmosphere? Come hang out with your teenage friends here, they aren't too busy to Hang.
Again, Maybe just the perfect storm scenario and at all other times there is good food served faster and the wait staff is , well, anyway not going back to find out.
Great food in a cute little town! Would highly recommend giving this place a shot. Burgers and brisket were fantastic!
We were seated right away drink order taken and brought. Waited 15 mins and no one came to take order. Wait staff to busy talking to people at the bar. There were only 8 customers in the restaurant. Paid for the drinks and left.... Bad Service!!!
Avoid. Waited well over an hour for food that never made it to the table. Asked for a check for the couple of drinks that got 1 refill in the course of the hour (no, they weren't busy) & the 1 appetizer that made it to the table. They tried to charge for stuff that never was brought to the table, & just laughed when they corrected it...
Would give 0 Stars if it were an option.

Sat down around 7:10pm, ordered. Took 45 minutes for refills, 1 appetizer came out, nothing else. Over an hour later, no food still. Asked for check for the 3 soft drinks & appetizer. They tried to charge for things that never even made it to the table, corrected it, but kept laughing.
Definitely a waste of time & money.
Not sure what has happened (this place used to be really good), but our food was terrible. I mean like inedible. And the service was not great either.
Dude. What happened to this place? It used to be soo good but then the staff all changed, they stopped selling alcohol and the food became awful. The change happened maybe 1+ ago. We Haven’t had a good meal there since. It’s really a shame. Today was strike 3. Not going back.
You couldn’t pay me to eat here again.
The brisket sliders and the Bailey burger were good but the fries and sweet potato fries were greasy. We waited over 1 1/2 hours for our food. The service was okay.
