LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The food is so good and the staff is so friendly and helpful. We are visiting from Wisconsin and here in Marshall for a week. We have been multiple times and plan on going more before we leave. The Zadie bird and beet salad are my absolute favorite! My husband loves the chicken and waffles. The chicken and the waffles are gluten free. They have great shrimp and grits and the rainbow bowl was delicious too!

Dietary restrictions: Well marked in the menu and accommodates your needs. I am gluten free and it was superb!

The menu is simple and diverse. Our group had wings, grilled cheese and shrimp and grits. Everything tasted wonderful. We are on the back by the river and the weather was great.

In town for our daughters wedding and needed a bite to eat. One of three places still open after 7 pm. I'll admit I had my doubts when we walked in and ordered at the bar; however, we were very pleased with the outside patio and live music by the river. The food was amazing. The chicken and waffles with spicy maple syrup was a hit with my wife and daughter. I had the Chipotle Buffalo wings and they were phenomenal. Absolutely blown away with the flavor. Best wings I've ever had . Thanks for the experience and the service. Hats off to the chef.

They had both vegetarian and gluten-free options, and were able to answer detailed questions about ingredients/allergy info.

The food was great, and they have both indoor and outdoor seating.

My Gluten free chicken and waffle were drizzled with a most scrumdidaleumptious syrup. It was both sweet, spicy and tangy leaving me craving the next bite. Josh and his community have dreamt up a modern use for the old town jail that while paying homage to the buildings history visitors can enjoy flavorful modern culinary creations and beverages unique to the region. A centerpiece of the Marshall community that is a delight to visit. Bravo!

We stumbled upon Zadie's just doing a broad search for gluten-free food & saw they had GF fried chicken sandwiches & chicken & waffles. We drove an hour & a half to indulge in this heavenly goodness & shew it is worth it! We made a 2nd trip in less than 2 weeks just to have it again & we will make many more trips! It is absolutely worth it!!

The fried chicken sandwich, the Zadie Bird, is huge! You can tell their ingredients are fresh & I most definitely appreciate a slice of fresh tomato on my sandwich. The fries were amazing & so are the pimento grits. But their gluten-free chicken & waffles are out of this world fantastic! The spicy maple syrup!! The fluffy waffle!! They also have an array of different types of drinks to satisfy any & everyone's taste buds. From classic sodas, healthy soda, seltzers, beer, to ciders. You name it, they got it.

It's a very unique place as it's centered around the building being an old jail. Nice outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade & you sit in reaching distance of the train tracks (safely, of course) right next to the French Broad River. Great atmosphere & amazing food!!

Zadie’s is the quintessential boutique cafe - delicious fresh food, local beer on tap, and gorgeous views from the riverfront patio.

The cafe and adjoining hotel were born from a converted jail, giving it a delightfully quirky character. Each of our dishes was well crafted and tasty. Special nod goes to the naturally gluten free fried chicken.

Definitely worth the stop! I ordered the rainbow bowl and it was fantastic! Nice breezy outdoor seating right by the river. You order at the walk up counter and bus your own table.
