“I ordered a cake for my Daughter’s birthday that was gluten, egg and nut free and it was absolutely delicious. My daughter we so excited to finally get to eat a real birthday cake. It made the day extra special. Most of the other bakeries I spoke with couldn’t accommodate making a cake with substitutes within the timeline I was hoping but Shawn was able to help make this happen. We can’t wait to come back and try her other treats!”

“Strolled through D/T Marshall this Sunday and we decided to have lunch at Star Taco. Was a perfect fall day and there were several other couples eating outside. We had the Cowboy Queso for an appetizer and then the Blackened Mahi Taco and the shredded chicken taco as our main meal. Everything was excellent and the menu was varied enough that we will go back for sure.”

“Fresh excellent pizza, super friendly staff (including the owner), and they put the college football game on that we were hoping to watch. We checked out the patio before we left, which is overlooking the river. We would definitely come back here if we’re in the area again. The whole downtown area of Marshall has made an amazing recovery after hurricane Helene. Lots of small businesses to support and enjoy.”

“We are in town for a month and have been enjoying Zuma coffee, baked goods (blueberry muffins!) and sandwiches. Great latte, the new espresso machine obviously working well! We’ve been enjoying the sandwiches and planning to try some provisions for an upcoming weekend to make life easier. Recommended!”

“I brought my family to this modern subway sandwich shop for a nice fresh cold cut sub expecting a typical subway experience. We arrived around 7:30 to a clean modern updated storefront with a cool decor. The young man inside blew me away with his quick friendly service and perfect ingredient proportions. The men working Friday July 31st were not your typical subway employees, they were true sandwich artists 👨‍🎨”

“We live just north of the village and come here often. Love Yellow Mug! Order at the counter, find a table indoors or out, they will find you when your food is ready. Terrific fresh-ground coffee, creative breakfasts, sandwiches, salads (I love The One with Quinoa and Butternut Squash—yes, that is its name). Very fresh food, veg/vegan and GF options, beer and wine, excellent wifi….one of our favorite places!!!”

“Came to Hot Springs on honeymoon and this was the first place we visited. Got plenty of gifts for our loved ones and souvenirs for us as well. The maple bacon ice cream was delicious and the crafts from local artisans are awesome. Definitely visit this place if you stop in town.”

“This was our 2nd visit (a year apart) and our food was just as good as the last time. My wife had the wild boar bolognese - which she enjoyed a lot last year - and she said it was wonderful again. I had the short rib stroganoff - very tasty and the meat was super tender. I also appreciated that despite how really busy they were, they accomodated my wife's need for a table change due to some anxiety she has. They didnt have to but they did - thats tops in my book! Will definitely be back again!!!!”

“Great food, service, & beer selection! The fried pepperoni & cheese curds were delicious. My wife liked the firecracker shrimp Alfredo, but said it had some spice. The Greek platter was amazing as well. I got the combination to try both the lamb & chicken. The chicken tasted like souvlaki & was good, but I favored the lamb. I typically would order an old fashioned, but they did not have large blocks of ice. Given what Helene’s impact on western NC, I was happy to see this restaurant thriving & folks in good spirit. This place is a gem for the community, and I highly recommend.”

“We passed by Wagbar on our way to our Airbnb and just knew we had to visit. So many happy dogs playing, my dog was anxious to join everytime we passed by. I love that they take being up to date on vaccines serious. We were greeted by what I called the "Welcome committee" consisting of 3 huge golden retrievers. Got inside, ordered a few drinks and set Stash free. He was right away accepted into the group of dogs playing and shown around. Not only were all the dogs friendly and very social, but their owners were as well. Great conversations were had. Absolutely recommend this place. The employee working that day(can't remember her name) was amazing with the dogs. She took notice anytime the dogs were "bored". She would come out and entice them to play around. Hilarious seeing the regulars reaction to her approach because they KNEW what was up haha! Can't wait to visit again when we are in town.”
