We stopped at Zadies for lunch after a rafting trip. The staff was so pleasant and helpful with beer selections, and the food was delicious! Get the chipotle wings and smash burger - you won't be disappointed.

I can’t begin to explain how amazing this place is! Food was PHENOMENAL! We had the Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes, the Zadie Bird with French Fries, and the Grilled Cheese with Mac & Cheese. The meatloaf is a seasonal item - it was very tender and tasty! The Zadie Bird had just the right kick to it, and was fantastic! Our kids had the grilled cheese with the bacon-onion jam and they could not get enough. Donna Ray and Soren were amazing in helping us with food and drink recommendations. The restaurant, bar and hotel are in a building which was the old jail house in town. Highly recommend a visit next time you are in town!

Hidden gem, food was insanely good. Hostess / Bartender was really friendly! Awesome vibe, large selection of beer and bubbles.

Burger was really good. Could tell whoever they have in the kitchen has experience in a more upscale type restaurant. Was very excited to notice that.

Very cool place. The food was amazing. There are a variety of beverages to choose from. You pre-order your food at the bar (there are no servers), and they bring your food to you. You bus your own tables. The bartender was nice but not very welcoming. She had a 'don't care if you're here' kind of California vibe. We were kinda of left to figure things out ourselves. Outside seating was very cool, with a clear view of the French Broad River alongside the railroad tracks. I really liked this place and will definitely be back. The burger was outstanding, and the hand cut fries do not disappoint. My wife had the shrimp and grits. She loved them.

They have a banging chicken sandwich and play Doc Watson... Paired river side with a good beer what else is there to want?

Every meal we’ve had there is excellent! Right on the river, friendly atmosphere and what a thoughtfully designed place with the community-made bricks in the wall and patio.

A lot to say about this place. But, to make it short and sweet I'll say that the tomato soup and grilled cheese was phenomenal. Liked to taste some of the wines, but the cranberry orange blossom was perfect. The view, the history and the atmosphere of this place is definitely worth visiting (even if it's a quick lunch). I absolutely loved the hummus, too. Nala and I can't wait to return.

I don't get into downtown Marshall much, but I'll make a point of it more often to eat at Zadies. Loved sitting by the river, enjoying one of the best chicken sandwiches and mac-and-cheese bowls of my life. And I love and have eaten an awful lot of of mac and cheese & fried chicken sandwiches in my 50+ years. The food, service, and all the cool "this was the old county jail building" artful reuse of materials, it was all so very excellent. Super friendly staff, and the owner came by to say hi and chatted with us, amazing hospitality. Lots of fun reasons to visit Marshall but if nothing else I'll be back lots more often for the great food, service, and vibe at Zadies. Such a cool adaptive reuse of a previously abandoned structure.Parking: Plenty of space in reserved spots, general street parking, and across the bridge at the artist studios / market.

Our party of 5 enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the riverfront patio. Burgers, fries, and shrimp and grits were all delicious. Such a great find in this charming mountain town

A super cool place to eat, food was good if a little bit on the "Asheville foodie pomp and circumstance over being filling and delivious" side, people working there were super nice. It's in the old police station, which, as someone who grew up up in Marshall and isn't even that old, it felt so incredibly weird in a kind of neat way. Like I snuck into the jail to eat a bougie meal. A little illicit but in a fun sort of way. Their back patio is really nice, right by the water, kinda wish I actually went up and hung out here earlier in the summer when it was nice and warm.Drink prices were pretty reasonable if that is your thing!
